Folder Selection

This is a small little problem I have found. Where you select a folder in the right hand pane of whatever section ( Videos, Pictures, Music) the smae folder should be selected on the right. Even if the person is just single clicking on that folder.

The reason I say this is that I have selected a fodler in the right hand pane and tried to set its privacy setting, only to find that its applied my setting to all the files in the folder that was selected on the left (usually one directory below), or some kind of right click implementation for folders on the right (not just left) may work

Running with Minimum Active Requirements

Currently I'm running the connected server from a laptop that is a couple years old. The processor is an Intel Pentium 1.7Ghz and it has 512mb of ram(the min reqs are 1.6 and 512). The UI is basically so unresponsive it's unusable. The video works fine on stage6, unless it's HD and then it is fairly choppy. I'd recommend upping the sys reqs, probably to 2.0Ghz and 1GB, but should be tested to see if that's enough. Btw, the old UI did not have this problem on this computer.

Video Items Remain After Deletion

When doing a “Re-scan…” on items in a Shared Video Folder, any content that has been deleted still remains.

I have discovered the problem is due to Windows Vista UAC. On one computer running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Edition with UAC disabled, the files appeared and disappeared from the Media Server when they are added or removed from a Shared Video Folder. On another computer running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Edition with UAC enabled, the files appeared in the Shared Video Folder when files were added but were not removed from the Shared Video Folder when they were deleted.

Additionally, I started the DivX Connected Media Server on the computer with UAC enabled, but “Ran as administrator” and the content was added and removed when files were added and removed. I also noticed a separate list of Shared Video/Music/Pictures Folders when “Ran as administrator” compared to starting it under the context of the current user.

Having helped several OSS projects handle UAC compatibility issues, the main issues deal with file and registry permissions. Registry settings should be saved in HKCU and not HKLM if possible. Another problem arises if DDE or OLE is used to communicate between two processes running in different user contexts.

The LUA Buglight from http://blogs.msdn.com/aaron_margosis/archive/2006/08/07/LuaBuglight.aspx, can be used to discover UAC application compatibility issues and provides information on how to resolve these issues.

Welcome

Welcome to the DivX Connected beta program, we are really exited to finally start sharing our progress, we are working on DivX Connected for a little over two years now, first looking into the feasibility of the approach, then developing a custom transport protocol specially well suited for video transmission over wireless, then we tried to work with Media Server partners, that didn’t work out too well, so we came back to the drawing board and created on our own interface and plug in architecture. We are now very happy with the overall results, sure there is still some little issues here and there that need to be cleaned out (yes, I know, media ingestion take forever on the DivX Connected server), but keep in mind we are still this is a beta !

Back Returns To Different Menus

When returning from Stage6 -> Videos/Channels, Videos is the default Main Menu item selected instead of Stage6. When selecting Services -> Shoutcast/Google Video, returning to the previous menu takes you back to the Main Menu with Videos selected instead of the list of Services. Please note that this was done in the DCMP since I haven’t received the unit yet.

Stage6 Video Channel Thumbnails In Background Of Stage6 Channels List

When a Stage6 channel is “Loading…” and you press back right when the thumbnails appear, then the previous screen, Stage6 Channels, has the video thumbnails as the background. This was done with the DivX Connected Media Player since I haven’t received the unit yet, so it may be a problem with the Media Server or Media Player. I have attached a screen capture of the DCMP screen.

Media scanning

the software crashes when it is scanning my audio folders. After which I have to run the server wizard all over again. Very annoying
