DivX Connected Server Crash Dump
Thu, 11/29/2007 - 15:46 — slightlyoffbeatHey Beta testers!
If you are running the DivX Connected Server, and it is consistently crashing (or you can consistently re-create a crash), can you run the attached reg file on your PC for us? It will create a crash dump file on the desktop when the server crashes.
When you are done you can post the dump file to the forums, create a new bug issue and post it there, or contact me directly.
Thanks!

Rusume after connection loss
Please make is possible to resume a video after the connection was lost.
I use a wireless connection, and ever so often the connection with the server is lost. (lots of other wlan here). It would be great if the server software could remember where in the video the connection was lost.

Server won't update to 1.0.1-build 15
Hello Connected friends and developers,
yesterday divx released the new server software, but my actually one won't update to this new version. When pressing the button "check for update" it says again and again "No update available"...
The auto-update function won't work too.

InFROmationen / German Translation
You should correct this word in TVs 'Plugin´s' menu:
wrong: Infromationen
correct: Informationen
In the application, change 'Anerkänntnisse' to 'Credits' or 'Danksagung'
(I would prefer 'Credits') cause 'Danksagung' sounds in german like something related to funeral. ;-)

Connected volume control has inconsistent "minimum"
Forgive me if this has been mentioned before... I noticed this when playing two movies with drastically different volume levels. Using the volume control on the DivX Connected remote, I was able to reduce the volume of a loud movie to a reasonable listening level, but no lower. I then opened a movie with normal volume levels, and there was no volume output until I substantially raised the volume on the remote. Both were played through an Onkyo receiver set to a medium volume appropriate for normal listening. I replicated this with a Harmony 680 remote, so I do not believe it to be a fault with the DivX remote itself.
Server software never shuts down
When I close DivX Connected on the Win XP computer, the icons disappear and it appears that things have closed normally. When I try to restart the software, hours later, I get an error message stating that the program is still in the process of shutting down, and to try again later. WIndows Task Manager shows the program still running, so I shut it down there, reclick the desktop icon, and it starts to run normally. Any help with this small but irritating flaw would be appreciated. FF

Advanced Playlist Support
While there is already support for adding playlists to the server, I would like to see the boxes able to *create* playlists. Not in the terms of a special menu to go to for adding them, but with you able to add any file you can browse to into a playlist.
On the remote there is the unused (?) "dot" button below the 7 - make that the "add to playlist menu" button.
"Playlist ''"->
. "Add"
. "Remove"
. "Edit Playlist"->
. . "Create New Playlist..."
. . "Rename Playlist"
. . "Lock to Prevent Changes" / "Unlock..."
. . "Link to this box" / "Unlink..."
. . "Synchronous" (is there a better name?)
. "Select Playlist"->
. . "Hits of the 20s..."
. . "My first video encoding steps..."
. . etc
Created playlists should have a couple of features that aren't available to normal playlists.
1. Lockable - so they can be changed or not. If they can't be edited (ie, any imported playlist) then they don't show up in the playlist menu. Any that can be edited can be locked to prevent accidental changes, optionally using the pin number (in server settings *).
2. Synchronous - If this is set then any boxes that access it play exactly the same thing at the same time. This is useful in houses where multiple boxes in multiple rooms can all play the same thing - or you can go into one room and carry on playing something from another. In businesses and museums this could be used to make sure that all screens in a display are showing the same thing. Pausing the playlist takes effect in all rooms - though this has a server setting to disable pause *. If possible use multicast or similar to save network bandwidth?
3. Linked to a box - A linked playlist can only be edited on the box that it is linked to. To unlink a playlist using another box can optionally be allowed * - possibly by using the PIN number.

I've made a dream... A Linux Server
Hi,
I come again to you with my idea of linux server. We can see that a lot of people (more and more) use Linux systems like Ubuntu.
Actually, hardware maker like Apple have a big problem with Linux and i don't know why... But the fact is : "Because we have no itunes or no DivX connected server or whatyouwant on Linux, we won't buy..."
I'm a linux user and i will never buy a device that is not officially open or unofficially open by hackers...
So... What i want to say to you is that i think your product is wonderful and i encourage you to
1. Developp a Linux Community and a working group for DivX Connected Device
2. Document, and discuss with hackers in order to allow people (un-officially) customize this device and developp better application as now.
So good luck for this project and i hope you won't forget Linux users.
Best regards

roommate threw out my remote
I was cleaning up my apartment and moved the remote and apparently my roommate threw it out because neither of us can find it anywhere. Could I get a replacement? Pretty please :-)
