What is DivX Connected and What are DivX Connected Plug-ins?

What Is DivX Connected?

DivX Connected™ products free your digital media from the confines of your personal computer. Have you ever had videos on your computer that you wanted to watch on your television? Do you have a collection of digital photos or music on your PC, but don’t want to remain chained to your computer in order to enjoy them? DivX Connected products provide the solution.

By installing the DivX Connected server application on your PC, any DivX Connected device can stream your digital media to your television where you can access it through rich interactive menus. The menus and content are all generated on your computer and streamed to the device. The device then plays the content on your entertainment system. This method of keeping the menus and software on the PC allows for smooth, quick interface response, more convenient software upgrades and opens the door for a wider range of DivX Connected products starting at lower prices. The DivX Connected platform also allows you to customize your experience by installing new themes and community-generated plug-ins.

What Are DivX Connected Plug-ins?

Community-generated DivX Connected Plug-ins allow you to customize the DivX Connected experience. Anyone can create and distribute plug-ins for the Connected platform using the freely available DivX Connected Plug-in SDK.  DivX Connected Plug-ins allow you to play games, browse maps, stream IPTV and much more. The possibilities are limited only by the creativity and imagination of our community developers. To get a better sense of the possibilities, check out the list of currently available DivX Connected Plug-ins.

How Can I Experience DivX Connected?

If you’d like to try the DivX Connected experience for free, without purchasing a device, just follow this simple 3 step process:

  • Step 1:  Download and install the DivX Connected Server. During the setup process, you will be given instructions on how to add folders for the DivX Connected server application to monitor.
  • Step 2:  Download the DivX Connected PC Client from here. This application will emulate the DivX Connected interface you would normally see on your television. The PC Client will connect to the server that you installed in Step 1 and display what you would see on your TV if you were using a DivX Connected device.
  • Step 3:  Connect to the server that you installed in Step 1. That’s it! Now you can navigate through our services, check out some plug-ins and get a good idea of what the DivX Connected experience is all about.
