Awesome!!

I definitely like the new Codec. My system yet again seems to be performing marginally smoother with each codec release (this is especially important as I am running a not so powerful Dual Core).

Keep up the good work!!

Trick Play

Hi There, I definitely like the new player. I have noticed a huge improvement yet again in visual quality over the previous player - picture seemed sharper when there are fast moving objects. I would like to say that the Trick Play on my lap on works well when fast forwarding not on the rewind.

Not sure if it is due to my gutless laptop or whether further refinement is required, but I did notice you mentioned only fastforward is smooth and nothing about rewind (so assume its just further refinement).

Just thought I'd let you know. I am running a Dell 1501 laptop with an AMD Dual Core TL56 chip, Radeon Xpress 1150 plus 2gigs of RAM and am running Vista (not exactly earth shattering but does chug a long ok for a basic system).

Nice work for a Beta. Keep up the great work!!

Good news but what hardware we need?

This is very good new but I wonder what hardware is needed to play a video encoded with the latest DivX codec. I used to use Cole2k Media codec pack but almost always something got mixed up so I quit using it. Just install some base codecs linke DivX and AC3 and see everything.

Free Software Downloads

Commercial usage of KBE

KBE is completly dependent on a whole bunch of OpenSource tools. Some of them are under the GPL licencse others are LGPL.

I'm not an expert on law, but as far as I understand the GPL, this means that KBE itself is under GPL, which again means I have to grant you access to my source and the source of the used components.

Additionally GPL allows me to licencse KBE to you, but even then it still would be GPL, meaning that you yourself would have to make the source available to anyone asking for it.

Should you still be interested in the source, please contact me by email: kamiwa at kamiwa dot de.

It is quite impressive tool. Very nice UI!

My main question, Is this tool open source. Any considerations to sell the source code and license it another company?

Please let me know

I still can't play the video from my Mac. I noticed that there are spaces in the name of the DivX file used for the streaming. Maybe the spaces simply fail to get parsed as %20 by the player…

I think

I too don't see this happening anytime soon either. I would rather see the Dr. functioning smoothly first before adding any new features regardless - and even that seems like a major challenge without funding, let alone a whole set of complex video capture capabilities. Don't count on it.

Then again, you can try VirtualDub, which does do DivX and does have AVI capture features. But I have never tried it so I wouldn't have a clue if it's any good at capturing.

Keep in mind that (at least for the longest time) video capturing is/was a resource-intensive and complicated process. I seriously wouldn't count on an app focussed on encoding to be any good at such a demanding feature. I do recommend shopping around for one if you want quality.

And the all-in-one quality solution is still rare in consumer video applications. I personally use many different solutions to do different things anyway such as capturing, importing, editing, de-interlacing, encoding and any authoring or burning.
Audio filters

You should get an audio filter for that cam, there's a high pitch whine running through that video. Something like Adobe Audition (formerly Syntrillium Cool Edit Pro) is pretty good with noise sampling and reduction.

Issss Niceeee,,,,,,,,,

The smooth fast-forward and reverse are a vast improvement over the jerky "Now..... nope, keep goinggg,,,,,Now! Nope...." seek controls of the past, and customizing the default renderer is sweet! The player performs much smoother during playback as well, consuming an average 8% CPU load on my Mobile Intel Core2Duo 2Ghz. Now all I need is a force aspect ratio on player start-up (like the one that works with Windows Media Player under the DivX decoder config!), chapter skip support so we can include chapter tags in .divx files that have no menu and it would be perfect! Next test.... Play lists. I had problems with playlists with previous builds. After playing through about 5 videos in the playlist, the player would crash attempting to load the next video. Hopefully with this beta, that will be fixed!

Yep, sure! (EDIT) AHA! now I got it!

I just did an uninstall of ffdshow (_beta4a_rev1723_20071224_clsid), Matroska Splitter build 1.8.122.18, and the new build of DCS. Restarted the system and re-installed all three progs fresh with new settings following the "tutorial for MKV with DCS", restarted DCS after scanned folders and placing config file into ....BIN\DivX Connected\, rescanned the folder with my MKV's containing various Video codecs ranging from Xvid - H264, MP3 - Vorbis, and even OGM files. All of witch worked perfect (cept for those with subtitle streams) with the 1.2.0 build 48 server.
Now I cannot get them to work. Im stumped! The only thing that is different is the server. (EDIT) I found out why it would not work. The files that were not showing up contain srt or ass files, and there seems to be some codec issues as well! Two files are encoded with an avc1 codec and mp3, but only one of the two is showing up in DCS. Thats better then none at all! Silly me, I didn't even check to see if any of those files I tested had subtitle files!

I think

It doesn't sound crazy at all...I use Windows XP, but I started having problems with the player after I upgraded to version 1.4.0., meaning it didn't want to work, as in at all (connection failed message). The only solution was to uninstall it and go back to the older version I had before. Now it's working perfectly again and I don't want to risk upgrading again until I read that 1.4.0 is a stable and working version.

If this happens, I find its best to uninstall, re-install, and choose NOT to keep your previous settings. It happened to me once and now I'm enjoying MKV file playback :)

New server 1.2.1 B8 and plugin problems

I just installed the new server software 1.2.1 build 8 and found that the plugin no longer works, even after trying the fix for the previous server. Will there be a new pluginconfig file released soon?
