Seems to be a bug with subtitles (eg SRT format) with Xvid/DivX media.

Specifically, when starting a movie, sometimes they will appear by default but pressing the subtitles button won't make them disappear. Alternatively, sometimes they don't appear when starting the movie and pressing the subtitles button also won't bring them up.

Subtitles are all named the same as the AVI file.

Any ideas?

Subtitles and Languages

Turns out the subtitles I have that didn't appear have a slightly different structure to the traditional SRT ones. VLC and GOM player have no problems playing them back, but DivX player didn't recognise them, so that explains why Connected didn't either.

However, for normal SRT subtitles that do appear, the subtitles button on the remote still doesn't make them disappear (for both 1.5.0 and 1.5.1 Beta). I have tried this on multiple files. To be fair, it's not the biggest bug in the world as if you have a subtitle there in the first place, you most likely want it to be played. However, it would be nice to get it resolved (though not at the expense of other development!). Furthermore, it was asked for a while back but would be great if there was some on-screen feedback (like the volume feature) regarding subtitles eg On or Off.

While on the topic, does the languages button on the remote work? I think I tried it a long time ago and it didn't but I may be mistaken. I'm thinking I could certainly use it for DVD commentaries ripped as a Second Audio stream. Again, on-screen feedback would also be useful.

Thanks Dan

Can you send us an example file?

Can you send us an example file?

Send the file to our ftp server. Please put it in a uniquely named folder before dropping it in (and let us know what the name of that folder is).

You will need to upload it using either internet explorer or an ftp program such as filezilla or fireftp.

server: ftp.divxnetworks.com
username: divxsupport
password: support

Just send me a message with name of the file is, and we will take a look at it!

Press menu

Hi,

I may have missed the point here but I also find that the subtitles button never works but I simply press menu and there is an option to switch off subtitles.
