Here are some details : I have been using DivX for about 1 month now and suddenly a week ago about, it stopped working. I had updated it too (maybe it was that ????). It says connecting but then never buffering like it did before and it does this for all DivX sites I use. I have Windows Vista and before these were the stages to watch a DivX.
1. It connected.
2. The Color scheme on Windows Vista changed.
3. It buffered.
Now it does not go pass the connecting stage and it does not change the color scheme.
I have the latest version of DivX, reinstalled it twice but it is still not working. I am using Firefox 2 and it does not work on IE either.
Are there any programms or antivirus that DivX are uncompatible with ? Thanks for your help !!

still not connecting!

I have tried all the hints above and on several other sites...it still says "connecting" but never makes a connection! I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java, Firefox & Divx (multiple versions). Ahhhhhh!

Firefox 3.6
Windows XP Pro

Had a similar issue after installing the new version. First step i tried to perform was to revert back to the old version of the DivX web player --> http://www.oldversion.com/download_DivX_6.8.4.html .
When I did that i was still experiencing the same problem (even though the problem didnt start until i updated.)
Even though this did not fix the problem, i still recommend downgrading to this version (1.4.0.233) because of the persistent glitches and problems sites are reporting with the new beta.

SECOND step (the one that fixed it for me)I went to my network connection settings and turned off the proxy.

If this doesnt help, let me know. If you need additional details on how to perform step two, let me know (didnt feel like detailing, because it is different for different browsers).

Hope this helps. Ciao

Please try new build

Please try the DivX Plus Web Player beta. Find the link for the installer near the bottom of the page. Completely close out all open browsers and download windows before installing it, and after it is installed when you first use it right-click it, go to settings, and click the button to clear the download cache.

Let me know if that helps.

Heres what worked for me...

My updated Java install has been jacking up my browser for about a year or ever since i uninstalled and reinstalled it. After running into my Divx Buffering problem, i googled and came across this site. I ended up finding another forum where I read all about a uninstall bug screwing Firefox at: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=921325. My Divx Web Player now works. Before it would play for a min or so then it would start buffering staying at zero percent, i would press play, a sec later it would keep buffering at zero, then repeat. To the best of my knowledge this bug is caused by a jacked up update/uninstall/reinstall of java. I also learned how to stop the java quick start plug-in by reading about it at the link. Just go to Start, Control Panel and change the setting in the Java icon (if using win xp 64 bit, the icon is in the "View x86 Control Panel Icons" folder).

I am too

I am too and I am running Vista

Possible solution

Hi guys,

There's a post here which may help solve your problems. DivX Web Player doesn't support proxies and if your registry indicates that one is configured there's a chance you could have problems.

If you do try those steps and they help you please post back here and let me know, otherwise I'll need to ask you for some more diagnostic information to help track the problem down.
