In my view setting up the Divx connecting device is a really cumbersome task. I wasted nearly 4 hours trying to work it out. The main problem was with the remote control. I tried my best to make it work to play free games. Finally I changed batteries but still it was not working. In fact I downloaded the setup guide and read it. The more I read it the more confused I became. I really wonder what I should do now. I hope that my fellow bloggers will be able to help me.

I’ve been studying the docs - they officially claim 720p support, but depending on file format and bitrate it can do 1080p. I also believe there’s a beta H.264 plugin, though I’m not sure if it transcodes on the fly via PC or if it brings native support to the box.
So far I’m impressed with the plugin and theme architecture - I expect better community stuff to come along once this is released in the US. Also, so far, been having problems with the remote control. I swapped batteries, so I’m not sure if it’s a hardware defect on this particular device/remote or if there’s interference from the plasma, Wii, or something else it can’t overcome.
I agree the space is getting crowded, and for those of us with other devices (PS3, Xbox 360) that already have some extender functionality it’s going to be tough going. I already play Xvid on my 360…
Haven’t tried the music streaming and photo features yet.
Their extremely high support level is a nightmare for both retail stores and customers. The "support" is done by non-motivated, untrained, pennies per hour offshore contractors, no employees. Heck, it means not paying taxes anymore. The model U.S. company that used to be used as a positive example in so many BA and Graduate Business Programs has been totally destroyed since the hiring of former CEO (the first "outside the organization CEO ever hired, Karly Fiorina, in merging with Compaq and destroying everything that Dave Hewlett and Bill Packard stood for and made hundreds of millions of dollars personally in the wake of her destruction.
HP used to be the stand a iof excellence and quality for hardware, measurement equipment, technical support, printers, etc. They would have the highest customer loyalty rate of any Company, year after year.
NOW, it is more like a Packard Bell type of organization. They don't manufacture anything any more. Everything is made to be of the lowest quality, cheap crap that is made in mainland China. They just re-sell.
Their measurement equipment part (which was the original HP), was spun off.

As far as printers go, I personally know that their line of inkjet printers are probably the most expensive printers to run. Forget the purchase price, each of the print cartridges has its own print head in it, very expensive to use.
I am not advertising Canon inkjet printers, the ongoing cost per page is less than 1/2 than of HPs. I would bet, that would be a similar case with other inkjets.
Have to love the ole HP Laser IIIs, made and supported in Boise, Idaho that just ran and ran and ran and ran. A used on probably cost more than they did new.
Please don't think of their lasers, Unix boxes, business level PCs, parts, heavy duty printers and their support of the HP of the past as anything like the current HP. They still are doing a lot of consumer sales off of their cheap prices and their old reputation.
I agree that HP isn't what they used to be but they aren't that bad. Here in NC the support is fine. They go through Best Buy mostly. I'm not defending them so much though as I also build my own PCs. Just saying that they aren't all bad and if they make their prices lower then they can effectively set the standard for how much you should or shouldn't pay for a PC.
After having trouble installing my new HP printer...
HP support accidently uninstalled the first item on my DivX installation that came with my Dell Hell2005 XP Media Center E-310 computer.
Support...took over my puter...to help me gain enough space to install my printer...but accidently erased the first icon with the "cog-wheel with the X across it on my DivX program?
Do I need to completely UNINSTALL AND START OVER...OR CAN I SOME HOW RETREIVE THAT FIRST ICON DELETED ITEM?
IT WAS QUITE A HORRIFIC ORDEAL DEALING WITH HP....I CAN ASSURE YOU!!!
"NEVER LET HP TAKE OVER YOUR PUTER' ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY SPEAK SO LITTLE ENGISH!!!
HELP!!! :)

I always make "home grown" PCs anyway.
