HDMI Problems?

Here is a list of some HDMI issues that we have seen.

HD mode not being set automatically
In some cases, the auto detection for HDMI may not be working perfectly with your TV. Try setting your HD resolution manually by pressing the setup button and then choosing Display -> Display Settings -> High Definition (HDTV) and then choosing the 720p, 1080i or 1080p setting.

Green Screen
On some TV's, the HDMI does not get reset properly on a soft power up. This usually happens only during a brief period after start up.

Another green screen related issue is due to some HDMI TV's not supporting PAL timing. The green screen would happen while in the setup menu in this case, but be OK during normal viewing in HD mode. There will be a firmware update to address this in the near future.

If your setup screens are green, you can fix this issue by pressing setup on the remote, and then choosing Display->Settings->High Definition and choosing the NTSC 480p setting. After you do this, the setup screens should not be green. You can then choose a 720p or 1080 setting again so that you can connect to the server in HD mode.

HD mode detection fix?

Is there a fix (or plans for one) regarding the problem detecting HD mode over HDMI?

I'm using a DSM-330 with v1.0.1.30 firmware.

Mode detection mentioned above was fixed in 1.0.1.30

What issues are you having?

Faulty audio using HDMI

I have had a problem since I got my unit some time ago. Whenever I use the HDMI outputs, the audio sounds...wrong. It's synched properly, but all the voices/sounds are lower in pitch. At first I thought the video was playing slowly, but that doesn't seem to be the case (based on timing a program playback). It's just noticeable enough to be really annoying. :-(

I had heard this was a problem with the HDMI interface on some devices (I have a Samsung DLP HD TV, and the beta version of the Connected box, which I gather is pretty close to the D-Link box). I was kinda hoping the latest firmware would fix it. No luck.

If I use composite cables there is no problem, but of course I'm forced into Std Def. then. (And the video is "wrong-sized" for my TV). There are no component outputs on my unit, so that option is out.

Sure would like to see my videos in HD via Connected. Any ideas?

WMV video playback problems after switching to HDMI

I was using component video with the SCART adaptor, but now I'm connected via HDMI, and I notice when I play WMV videos sometimes the audio will start but not the video. To fix, I pause the video and press play and it seems to work most of the time.

Have you guys seen this issue with WMV videos?

This should not be casued by HDMI

It may be a particular WMV video. WMV playback is fine for me.

Green screen, clipped menu screen, and slow menus

Hi, i have exactly the same issue as user dharrigan (david) who posted on 12/11/2007. My menus (in HD mode) either fill my widscreen HD TV but are all green. Or I get no green but the menu pages only fill two-thirds of the screen and respond very slowly. The frustrating part is that on rare occasions it has all worked perfectly. But it now consistently misbehaves in some way. I changed no settings. And strangely, even when i get the green menus, some screens such as "Connecting to server" and "Set screen position" are rendered correctly. My PC is 3ghz Pentium 4 with 1GB of RAM running XP home. Network is wirless G and dsm330 is wired into the router (PC is not and runs upstairs). I have no PIN protected content. Media content on the PC is several gigs in size with photos, video, and mp3 content. I am in the UK and we use the PAL TV system.

Thanks

Rich

Green Screen

I have same problem. However does not happen every time. Amazon replaced the unit and then that went green. First unit then worked OK. until it was switched off. On turning it on again the problem returned. Now I get a blue/grey screen more than green. Music & video work OK, but photos have tint in them. Any suggestions?

Hi, I think I'm running this

Hi,

I think I'm running this in an unconventional manner :D

I have vmware running within Ubuntu, running Windows XP with the software in it (windows within a window - I like!). I have a share on the ubuntu machine containing all my files that Windows XP has mapped and mounted. It's that directory which the divx connected software sees.

Vmware Windows XP means no OpenGL for me. However all files are "local" if you know what I mean.

I'll take some photos of the off-centre screen this weekend and send them to that email address.

OpenGL support is miniumum requirement for the PC

OpenGL support is a minimum requirement for the PC that is running the server. Without it, I would not expect the device to see a main menu from the PC at all.

Hey David, You can check out

Hey David,

You can check out this FAQ which has some info if your menu's are acting a little sluggish:
http://labs.divx.com/node/1222

The menus are being rendered on your PC and are then sent to your device. If you are on a wireless network, and you have a weaker signal, or a slower network speed, or your menu is HD, then it is very possible that you might experience some lag.

If you want to send screenshots to us, or you would like some more in-depth support, send an email to:

Hi, I've noticed this Green

Hi,

I've noticed this Green Screen problem. Another one is that after configuring 1048i and adjusting the screen so that the alignment box is properly aligned, when I go back into viewing the directory icons they are all off. The box is "clipped". I'll have to take a picture and send (where?).

Also, is it normal for moving from folder to folder (without entering a folder) to be very slow? I'm noticing a 1-2 second delay simply highlighting folders (I'm on a wireless G network, does this have anything to do with moving around folders - note: I'm not *entering* a folder to view contents...)

I'll raise another topic about something else...

Can you give us some more info on your PC?

The slow folder issue can be caused by a slow PC or graphics card and/or a very large content collection. Currently, the server database takes too long to pull up the info for showing thumbnails that show up when a folder is highlighted when there is lots of content being monitored. Large amounts of pin protected content can make it worse. We are revamping the data base now to make it way faster, but it is a large enough change that it will take about 2 more months. My PC also suffers from this, but most others do not.
