Hi,

So, apparently the software doesn't detect new files added into folders. This is my setup:

I have a linux box with all my avi's shared via samba. This samba share is mounted as drive Z:\ on Windows XP. The software is installed on Windows XP. If I add a new avi to a folder on linux, the file does not appear in the file/folder viewer of the software in Windows XP. I have to remove the folder and re-add the folder for it to pick up on the new avi added.

Rather annoying.

Can we not have a refresh period where it would rescan each folder looking for new content? Not every millisecond, but perhaps a user-configurable setting like once every 5 seconds?

Hi, Great. Found the option.

Hi,

Great. Found the option. Had to click on the tree root and not individual folders to rescan (can this be changed as well? I may have *thousands* of files in lots of folders that I don't want it to rescan. I may have added just one avi to one directory....

We are currently adding two features to help with this

Manual Re-scan option of any folder from the 10ft UI (at the TV)
Automatic rescan of any empty folder

The new version with these fixes is about a month away, maybe sooner as a beta release.

These two fixes should make things much nicer while we improve the underlying database. After that, things will work much better.

Currently, you may have to

Currently, you may have to rescan your folder if your content is on networked drives (this can be done by right clicking on the folder in the server and choosing 'rescan'.

We are aware that this may be a little tedious if you have a lot of your content on networked drives, however a faster, and more convenient method for re-scanning networked drives is in the works.
