Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe its more an issue of these files having encryption/DRM.

encription/drm
I don't think it's encryption/drm because if there is any drm in the tv show it will not record it, also I can convert the files with MediaCoder.
Its not that the TV show has
Its not that the TV show has DRM, but rather that the file you get after recording has DRM. This is common in a lot of DVR devices.
This wiki page says that DVR-MS is proprietary and contains DRM:

Quit Frankly, I love
Quit Frankly,
I love DivX and everything it stands for. I think DivX has made an excellent job of improving video experience with the best type of compression possible. It is amazing how many applications support DivX. I would love to see more websites being able to support DivX videos instead of being converted to flash. In my lifetime, I would love to see every household product, every website, support the DivX. I wish my phone had DivX enabled video.
There is none better than DivX and anything you guys need me to do to proudly wear it on my sleeves, I am more than happy to.
Great thread
Thanks for posting this thread j razz, it's very interesting. Improving the installation experience is extremely important, especially to compete with a format as common as Flash. There are some great endorsements of DivX in the post as well as some thoughtful criticisms.
Thanks again.
DivX Web Player Install
I would like to see a slimmed down version of the web player that installs simply by clicking on the Active X controller box (yellow drop down) and one click of the "I accept the user agreement" button.
Why? Please visit here to read the discussion concerning this (See especially the post from CClub). This discussion occurred between a group of professional videographers concerning the viability of DivX as a web delivery format.
