Problem with metadata
I noticed a problem with the metadata.
When i using metadata for a video file, if i move this video file the metadata is lost and i can't redirect.
The metadata is stocked in "sldb.dat", why not create a txt file with metadata for all video file ? With this method, it will more easy to redirect metadata to video file ... with link as for posters ...
It will more easy to save it so.
It is an idea, what do you think about this ?

SQLlite browser
I used SQLlite, an open source programme to intergate the database and norrow down the selection to just my movies...It also allows you to edit the database.. but this seemed only slightly less time consuming then copying and pasting the info direct... If you have a few to move though this would do the trick.
What would be nice would be a way to move the files around with in the server programme and the metadata to follow the file!!
Hope this helps someone

PS if anyone comes up with further solutions I would still be interested to hear!!
Metadata
I want to move a bunch of video files to another folder. Is there any development on this subject, because I really don't want to re do all my metedata's.
Thanks in advance

We are improving the database now to resolve such issues
Until we have this fixed (about 2 more months) we can not support the moving of folders without metadata loss.
There is a work around for this for now. We do support text file metadata of the form below with the following tags. These will be imported but can not be modified back to the file with the edit meta data feature. You must use a text editor to create and update them.
videoname.avi.txt
title="Title of Video"
genre="Genre Info"
description="Decsription of movie"
OK
OK I would wait for an update.
Thank you
"You must use a text editor to create and update them"
--> this feature exist for the moment ? or is it in developement ?
if i open sldb.dat with notepad for exemple, it isn't exploitable.
This feature is supported now
But you must create a .txt file that is associated with each video file. It is currently the only way to ensure that the metadata will stay with it.
You probably could hack into the database with the proper tools, but it is beyond my ability to advise or recommend.
How can i associate
How can i associate the txt file with the video ?
In place it in the same folder ?
With the client Divx Connected (on my server) ?
I'm ok for testing but i don't know to use and associate these txt files.
Associate TXT Files
As the instructions show above, name the TXT file exactly like the video file, and keep it in the same folder as the video file:
my_movie.divx
my_movie.divx.txt
Doesn't work !
Hello,
I've installed new server software 1.1.0.08. All the metadata are lost after installation. I keep the name_movie.avi.txt or name_movie.divx.txt file in the same directory as the video file but it doesn't work -> no metadata for description and genre. Could we have an automatic procedure for read data in a txt file and use the folder picture for artwork because it's very busy to use the server metadata editor.
Thanks for your help.
Can you try removing and re-adding the folder?
This feature should not have been affected by this release. I use the same method myself for video metadata and it is working. I am using XP, are you using Vista?
Using win xp
I'm using win xp sp2. My video files are into a NAS. Yes i try the rescan option for video folder (single folder and all folders) but i don't try to removing and re-adding the folder. I'll try later and say you what.
