Shocked on survey
I was rather shocked at the result of the survey.
I use and have used Virtualdub for several years.
The biggest reason is that It always works !! I am not sure, but I would bet that if all settings are equal, that Vdub would encode Divx faster than other options.
After having times of having Dr Divx do some things that I did not expect, or have it complete without an audio file, I go back to Vdub. It also is so easy to take out just a section of it. It is a mature product and gives me lots of choices.
Where I have been using Dr Divx more recently is when I discovered that it encodes .FLV files and I don't think any other Divx encoders/converters will do this. Dr Divx doesn't succeed for me all of the time with FLV files, but it works most of the time. They wind up looking better than the original FLV.
Unlike some other types of applications, creating a Divx backup from a full movie might take three to six hours to find out that it didn't work correctly.
I just have to add this additional comment, which changes the subject.
There are those who post that Xvid is a FAR superior product to Divx. I have to say that they are out of their minds and I would bet all of my ex-wifes money that those people have never compared nor even used Divx past version 3.
This is especially true with the versions from 6.x on. There really is no comparison on how much that Divx has improved in the past few years. I did a test with my boys where they could not tell when I put on a original movie DVD from a Divx backup.
This would be from playing the movie on my TV and launching the original movie DVD and the Divx backup on a Divx compliant DVD player. Tremendous improvement when watching a Divx movie using the same set of hardware.
I also have re-encoded Xvid to Divx and see a strong difference there as well. No more of the distortion.
That certainly was not the case before.
This is NOT meant to be a put down on Xvid at all, but a comment on some of the really insane, misleading posts that I have seen at other sites.
It would be GREAT to have more and more stand alone DVD players Divx compliant. We should all let the manufacturers as well as retail store owners know this.
Thanks,
Jon
Why use one
Actually i use three.
I use tmpeg for audio as its supports ac3, which ive noticed gives u less transcode pips and pops than mp2 when using low fly mp3 as a source
i use virtualdub or mod for processing-resizing and picture cleaning, this then gets frameserved into canopus procoder 2 to convert over to mpeg.
Im surprised that Canopus and things like Avid's software was not on your list.
I actually use
I actually use VirtualDubMpeg, but I chose Mod, since they're similar. I actually have tried to switch, but I've got the whole process so streamlined, it's hard to compare.
DIVX AUTHOR
I know it's an authoring program, but I use that to encode my .movs to .divx ....DIVX...wow good for everything.
Pues tambien uso NeroVision
Pues tambien uso NeroVision o NeroRecode pero prefiero usar Dr DivX o para hacer DVDRip uso avi.NET y DVDDecrypter.
will Dr Divx be working with Divx 6.6 soon
To contact me via messenger : foymanatee@msn.com
I'm very waiting for Dr Divx working with last pro divx encoder 6.6.
And even more for Divx Encoder to be working under vista 32bits (ultimate).
Dr Divx 2.0.1 beta 3 has no more preset with divx codec 6.6 !!!!
Roll back to 6.5.1 for now
We posted a download for the 6.5.1 version in our FAQs. Try that and it should work.
Yo trabajo con mp4 y h264,
