If development is truly done, you should consider releasing the code for the firmware and server. Let the nerds play with it. It may draw interest to the product. You could call it OpenDivX Connected ;)

It would be great but

It would be great but unfortunately I doubt it's going to happen. DivX have remained silent on this issue - maybe they're using parts of Connected code for possible new software? Other than that, not many reasons why they couldn't open source it. The Connected product is particularly software driven and for that reason, it really would be perfect as an open source project.

Absolutely...

This same thought crossed my mind the other day...

If you guys aren't going to provide updates, support for new standards etc, you should opensource it.

It would not be fair if you'd discontinue further support and leave us with an obsolete box, especially since quite a few of us gave you our trust by jumping in quite early....

Nothing to lose, as KEROLiUKAS said...

Totally Agree!

I agree with the comments above entirely!

I love my device but the support is getting to become a joke - its clear that the DivX guys no longer want anything to do with this...

Please, please, please make this open source so we can all have a play and maybe keep this product from becoming like the Betamax! (Dead & Obsolete in case you wondered!)

This is something that

This is something that should have been done in the first place, but of course was not due to the profiting potential. You might as well do it now. Nothing you've got to lose.
