HI, NO MKVs are viewable on my xbox 360 media extender, it use to work, but then i had to send my xbox in for repair, came back installed everything again, but mkv is not recognised.

I have successfully installed mkv tech preview r3, i have windows 7 RC1 32-bit, i can play the mkv on the windows 7 pc rc1 media centre flawlessly (except forward and rewind but that never worked before).

I have no other codecs in stalled (except for ac3).

I have uninstalled the the tech preview, rebooted, reinstalled, but still not recognised. I am at a loose end here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You
Khan

Everything worked fine

Everything worked fine untill I installed the Divx7 that had the tech preview built in. I am on Retail win7 ultimate x64. MKVs work on the PC in media center but none of my mkvs show up on the 360. This breaks my heart because I was soooo excited after RC3 came out with the x64 support. I've tried uninstalling the xbox and then reinstalling it as an extender, I've uninstalled Divx7 then rebooted and then reinstalled and nothing works.

Media Centre not showing mkv files

Hi, I have got exactly the same problem, and can't find an answer anywhere.

I have got my windows 7 PC running perfectly. In Media centre, it browses, thumbnails and plays all my videos including mkvs, which is the main reason for upgrading to windows 7, and all thanks to this greak mkv preview software - it's great!

All my mkv files show both in my media PLAYER library and my media CENTRE library - no problems. However, after restarting, and re-adding my xbox as a media extender several time to try and force the "sync", it simply wont. All the folders with mkv files are listed but it says cannot find any video/movie files to play.

I don't understand and it's doing my head in.

I have uninstalled and re-installed the mkv preview and ac3 to try and start from scratch but it makes no difference. As I say the PC is perfect, it just doesn't seem to be sharing the information with the xbox media extender correcty?!??!

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Gtrex

hi there, same here. newly

hi there,
same here. newly fresh installed windows 7 rtm pro 32bit without any codecs. sucessfully installed tech preview. playback in windows media player without any pboblems, of course no skipping.

but on the xbox 360 video library there dont show up any *.mkv videofiles next to the other *.avi files which show up an can be watched.

edit: ok, in this preview i think its only possible to watch mkv videos on the 360 if choose media center on the 360 and not the video library in the dashboard.

was aware of this

hi, i am aware that the only way to play it was via the media centre, hence why i said media centre extender, i should have been more clear, like i have said, it use to work, im thinking the problem may lie in the fact that in my windows 7 pc, i have two "mcx" users one called Mcx1 and Mcx2. When the 360 is ocnnected to my pc VIA MEDIA CENTRE it shows that mcx2 is logged in, not mcx1.

Maybe the issue, i have no idea.

Any Help appreciated....

Re add the XBOX

I was unable to seee any of the mkvs on the XBOX, but I uninstalled and then re added the extender to Media Center and it rebuilt the media library. All MKVs play in Media Center, but some MKVs do not show video through the XBOX.
