How to save the network configuration ?
Hello everyone,
I received my DSM-330 yesterday and I'm very proud of it.
I've just one question about the wireless option : I have entered my WEP key but when I turn off the DivX Connected and then turn on, all the network configuration has disappeared and I must setup the WEP key and everything again.
Can you explain me how to save the network configuration (IP, WEP key...) ? I didn't find the solution for now.
Or maybe I have to keep it turned on for ever...

I got the d-link box yesterday, and set it up fine and watched some movies and went to bed.
Came back today, and realized it wont remember my network settings.
I'm running the latest firmware (didnt make any difference)
the latest divx connected server (dont think it has anything to do with it anyway) on a Core2duo 2.66 2GB ram machine.
a wireless B/G network, forced to 54mb, with dhcp enabled, and WPA2 (SPK) enabled for an 8 digit key.
My problem seems to be that the dhcp server gets disabled on the d-link box when I turn it off. So I start the box, it looks for the server, cant find it, gets a 0.0.0.0 IP address, then I need to go in the setup menu, enable dhcp, wait for it to pickup the IP address, then it'll work ok.
It wont connect at all if I set a static IP (I set the same IP address it picks up when DHCP is enabled) havent poked around much the static IP stuff though.
I tried a factory reset, and I tried holding the reset for about 20+ seconds (which didnt load back the old firmware)
Any suggestions? Any hotfixes I can try out ?

Is it 1.0.1.30?
With the 1.0.0.11 firmware, very long SSID's (network names) caused this problem, but the newest 1.0.1.30 firmware fixed it.
Can you restore the defaults and then try a different security setting on your router and see if that makes a difference?

hi yes, 1.0.1.30 and my ssid is 5 chars long.
I tried setting a 64bit wep key , but didnt make a difference. I dont think the encryption strength is the issue as I usually dont have to re enter that bit, I keep have to re-enabling DHCP.
WPA2 works just as fine as a wep key.
Let me tell you more of the network setup
I have an adsl modem/router - us robotics, and I have an access point (airties is the brand),
The router and access point are both dhcp enabled - but I specified different ranges, e.g. 192.168.1.5 to 192.168.1.9 is the range of IP addresses the AP can assign, and from 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.15 is the routers IP range.
The computer is set to a static IP (192.168.1.4), so is the AP (192.168.1.3), there is a 2nd computer which isnt included in this scenario (192.168.1.2) and the robotics routers IP (default gateway) is 192.168.1.1;
I noticed that the d-link box always picks up the first IP address the router has to offer (192.168.1.10), it hasnt picked up any other IP addresses so far.
Still, I'm not sure if this is related to the device not keeping my settings. Maybe when it can't pick up the last ip address in a certain amount of time, it deletes the network configuration?
Might this be the case?
Would a static IP help?
as a footnote, I have went through the forum, and couldnt find any useful suggestions, so I decided to register and ask my question :)
It may be that the device is seeing both the router and the AP's DCHCP servers and getting confused.
The device is failing to get a DHCP address from the AP, but if you give it time, it should re-try and get either a valid DHCP address or an AutoIP address. If this is not happening, please let me know.
The device is not really disabling DCHP. When you look in the network settings (IP Configuration) of the setup menu and see the "Enable DHCP" button, it is just an indication that it has failed DHCP and when you select "enable" it is forcing a DHCP re-try. The DHCP mechanism is always enabled by default unless you specifically choose "Disable DHCP".
The only short term solution I can recommend is to configure your network to only use one DHCP server or to use a static IP address for the DSM-330 device. This is not an issue we have heard of before so may also to be related to the specific brand / model of AP.

Please try doing a "Restore Factory Defaults" from the second page of the setup menu and try again.
It should automatically save your settings after connecting. Let me know if you still have this problem after doing this.
Thanks for your help dsalmonsen but it's still not working, even when I restored the factory defaults. Just for information, the firmware version is 1.0.0.11.
I don't think that there is an internal memory to save the server configuration because, after configuring and using the Divx Connected to see some movies and turn off, when I turn on my DivX Connected, it search a server and don't find one, then I get 0.0.0.0 as IP address and all my previous configuration has been cleared... except the MAC addresses and the location (main bedroom).
Maybe it's due to the fact that I tried to use it with wireless mode. I will try today to use it with the wired mode, which may be better, but of course useful idea is accepted.
Using the DivX Connected application, I've found another malfunction : when I try to update the metadata of a movie or something else, the application crashs... but maybe it's due to Windows Vista which is maybe not really compatible. My release is 1.0.2.3.
Your device should remember the last server it connected to and the wireless settings. It may need to be replaced. You can get a replacement unit though the channel that you purchased it from. Before doing that, You could also try updating to a newer test version of the firmware. If you want to do that, send an email to ConnectedFeedback@divxcorp.com with a reference to this post and we will send you the firmware and update procedure.
Regarding the meta data problem, that is a server issue. We do see a lot more problems with Vista. We will be releasing a server update next week that may fix it. If not, let us know.
I'm having exactly the same problem. I've tried e-mailing the address above, but I'm getting a delivery failure notice. Is there any chance someone could tell me how I can get the new firmware to try before I return it to the retailer?

Reducing the size of your network name (SSID) on the router may work around this problem. It has worked for another user that had a large (>15 Char) SSID. When it was shortened to about 10 characters the device was able to save the settings.
We have a new firmware that can be used to update the device if the above does not resolve the problem. If you would like to update the firmware, send an email request to ConnectedFeedback@divxcorp.com and reference this post.

Im not able to save network configuration file for my dsm-330 device. Once i power off / on, i need to re-enter all input field : (ip adress/ mask / gateway)

(a lot of thread complain that this firmware does not work very well)

After disabling the DHCP on the AP it takes about 15 seconds to get to the main (videos - photos) screen. I guess thats reasonable.
It works quite ok now - thanks for the tip :)
I had bought a cat5 cable just in case, I guess I'll take it back and get sth else for it :)
