Stage 6 not working for me
Hi there,
The Stage 6 website is not working on my box. Each time I try and play a movie clip I'm presented with the message "An error occureed during playback of the selected media".
This happens with every clip I try. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling all of my divx codecs and the server software, but still get the same message when I try and play a clip.
Can someone please help?
Many thanks
AVI is file container, not a format and most AVI files are either DivX or Xvid and those that are play fine in a DivX Connected player or any other DivX certified player.
This is a connected forum, however if you are having issues with stage6 on your PC, you can try this:
Test to see if this plays:
http://kristafromvista.googlepages.com/webplayertest.html
This will help me in diagnosing your problem so that I can find the best solution for you.
If you ARE NOT able to watch the test video, you can uninstall the Web Player 1.4 and reinstall version 1.3 from here:
http://divx.support.googlepages.com/DivXWebPlayerInstaller.exe
If the above player doesn't work, the stage6 web player is slightly different then the web player in the DivX Bundle. You can get it from here:

Hi All,
I'm facing the same problem as discussed above. The browser crases as soon as I try to play a divx video. Did we have any resolution for this problem?
I'm on XP and Divx version is 6.7
Thanks
Bee
I have the same problems as filterdude and would like some guidance on what I can do to fix this.
I have played videos from the site using my PC browser and my DivX Connected device.
Exactly what video are you trying to play and how are you trying to play it? Is you question related to DivX Connected?
Hey everyone,
I have been using the Divx player for quite some time now but yesterday out of the blue it stopped working. The problem seems to be that the videos dont start loading or connecting for that matter. I have tried reinstalling everything, but still no luck. If anyone has any suggestion please say so, I am not far from reformating my computer because of this.
oh and i run XP.
Thanks a million

I'm noticing that you are mentioning "DivX Player" and "...start loading or connecting..." so I'm assuming that you're talking about the Webplayer and not the stand alone or thick client... ??
I have this problem with my VISTA OS using the current 1.4.0 built. I've had to roll-back my webplayer to an earlier version... but have kept the current 6.8 codec.
Just a suggestion... You may want to use the codec most stable on your XP OS (6.6.1 or 6.7 or 6.8) and use a different built of webplayer or earlier built (if you're talking about webplayer vs. stand alone). This has worked for me... but on my VISTA OS. I'm not having any problems on my XP OS....

I just updated my DivX from an older version to the new 6.7 version and received the webplayer 1.4 along with this update. Now when I try to view anything on Stage6 the browser (Firefox or IE, doesn't matter) just closes without warning-no error message or code.
Also, when I try to use this new DivX player to play the one downloaded video (45 minutes) I have saved on my hard drive it plays 11 seconds of it and then stops, showing only the "DivX" logo. I tried DrDivx and clicked on 'encode' for this video and it still stops at the same spot but now the video is enormous and I can see only a portion of the video displayed on all of my laptops' screen.
So far I am not impressed by DivX and these problems. It is a very 'buggy' program.
I am running Windows XP HE Sp2 on my 2.4Ghz laptop.
Contacting this forum is my last hope and if no help comes from this source then I will delete this upgrade and 'restore' to the old version and leave it at that.
Version 1.10-08 of the software stage 6 working, downloading from there not (tested on Vista)
Version 1.10-11 of the software stage 6 working, downloading also working (tested on Vista)
All in all I'm pretty pleased with the new software version(s)
Thanks!
Are you using Vista? We are looking into a problem with Vista and Stage6 that is affecting some users. A new server version is due out this week. It may resolve the issue, if not, please let us know.
Yes I am.
I'll try the new server software when it comes out and report back...
A beta release of the DivX Connected server rev 1.1 is now available for download. This release should fix the problem as well as a numerous other issues:
Download DivX Connected Server 1.1.0-Build-08 here http://labs.divx.com/node/1483
If you are currently using a production version of the software, installing this beta version will result in future beta updates being issued as auto-updates as well.
I have the newer beta version of the server software and Stage 6 works perfectly. But, nothing else will, I installed it over the older version and none of my movies work and also the music files will not play.
Strangely, if I un-install the older version everything else works but Stage 6 stops working. :-(
Has anyone else experienced this problem please?
You are the first to report this.
Are you running XP or Vista?
What does the system do when you try to play? Nothing? Does it give any error message?
One suggestion is to use the new software, but remove and re-add your folders. It may resolve the issue.
Same Problem here
on XP Video is O.K. Channel not
on Vista Video and Channel is broken

I have the same issue. it used to work fine before I installed the new version. I've tried everything... uninstalling/reinstalling, restoring the old version, even downloaded Divx Connected, but it still crashes my browser (firefox) when the video connects. (it's the same with IE).
frustrating!
help! please

Another thing you should know is that a green screen usually means that the video is in avi format---not divx...you can download and play it using windows media player, real player, and just about anything EXCEPT divx
