Hello I just installed windows 7 build 7600 rtm I have installed divx web player 1.5 and upgrade to the new 2.0.0.203 and neither work in windows 7. Using the 1.5 constantly froze and would not play. Under the new version it does not do anything. The 1.5 worked fine under vista i also have cccp codec and I have removed it to trouble shoot further still nothing if anyone can help that would be great.

Problems with some videos

Hey,

I'm using Windows 7 Build 7100 (64 bit) and my player doesn't want to play some videos. The sample video in the news works fine but the videos in the SDK for example don't work. The player says that the video format is not supported. Another example is VReel.net: if I try to watch a video the player says that the file was not downloaded completely and stops doing anything. The first problem is definitely caused by the new player, because the video works with the previous version.

Windows 7 RC (build 7100) is

Windows 7 RC (build 7100) is not supported. I did have it working fine for me when I used to have the 7 release candidate installed, but the final version is out and that is what we will support.

As for Vreel.net, we need to discuss with them about how their web server responds to HTTP requests. When videos are requested from them they return that there is no content (which is incorrect), but then send the video. Our HTTP stack obeys the header that says there is no content, and ideally this is something that should be addressed in their web server configuration.

What SDK videos are you referring to that don't play?

OK, I think I will install

OK, I think I will install the final tomorrow and try it again.

I'm referring to the videos in Webmaster SDK/samples/videos folder. I just noticed that I can open them directly with the player and watch them but it still doesn't work with the WebPlayer. I installed the normal Windows Package and the new Beta WebPlayer.

SDK samples

Hi Belanna,

The SDK samples are intended to be served through an HTTP server. You can try Apache 2 or Abyss X1 for free. You would move the SDK under the "htdocs" folder for these servers and that makes them visible through the http server on your own system.

So for example if you copy the files to:
C:\program files\Abyss Web Server\htdocs\Webmaster SDK

.. with that server running you would browse to:
http://localhost/Webmaster SDK/samples/start_here.html

The samples should then work.

Wow, thats it! A small notice in the SDK would be very helpful, because you can open .html files without an web server too.

Thank you all - great support!

Ok i have cleared it out

Ok i have cleared it out completely and nothing changed at all

Can you try...

Can you try accessing the web player preferences (via right-click menu) clicking the button to clear the cache, and then completely closing out and re-opening your browser?

Let me know if that helps.

Detailed description

Hi tigerblaze,

I'm going to need more information to work out what's going wrong on your system. Presumably the installation all goes okay. I'm interested in:

* Which version of Windows 7 - 32-bit or 64-bit?
* Which specific browser you are using? Please give the name and version. Also, if you have tried alternative browsers list those too.
* Which page is it you are trying to play content on? Give me a URL.
* Do you have any special firewall or anti-virus software installed? If so, have you checked whether they are blocking connections?
* Do you see the Web Player loading in the browser?
* If you right-click on the Web Player and view the About screen which version number does it show?
* What specifically happens when you try to click Play on a page using the web player? Do you see a buffering message, do you see any activity at all in the seek bar (e.g. the buffering indicator), do you see the time of the file get displayed at all?
* Which video card do you have? What is the driver version that is installed for it? Is Windows 7 running with fully accelerated desktop?
* Any indication of whether there is network activity at all?
* Is your user account for some reason more restrictive in terms of permission than a normal admin account?

Re: Detailed description

Hi tigerblaze,

I just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 RTM (64-bit), ran Windows Update, installed the beta from here (build 2.0.0.240), and then went to our beta page in IE8. The video on the page played for me on the first attempt.

You will need to provide me with the information I asked for if these steps still do not work for you.

Important: Is it at all possible that you are accidentally launching the Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) shortcut, or that you are running Firefox using the Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode) shortcut? Either of these shortcuts disable all plug-ins, including the DivX Web Player.

Sorry for the long wait my

Sorry for the long wait my internet was down had to wait for a tech.
I installed this on another computer that has the same OS which is windows 7 32bit works fine. no firewall at all and very few of services are still enabled so it has less background programs working i also have firefox by pigfoot since i noticed it runs faster on windows 7 compared to the regular firefox. it has a p4 processor 512 ram and hd3650 agp graphic card. the computer im having problems with has dual core 2 gigs of ram and ati x1400 has avast antivirus, comodo firewall, and the problem still exists.

The thing that stands out

The thing that stands out for me on that list is Comodo firewall because it can block connections and also prevent applications writing certain registry keys etc. Avast could silently block some files, but that's less likely.

Can you shut off Comodo and Avast completely, go through the plug-in installation process again, then try visiting the demo page here on DivX Labs and see if it works?
