DivX Player Codec Not Working On Windows Movie Maker & Windows Media Player
I had a video that requires the DivX codec, alright now to get to the main issue. I drag the video onto windows movie maker, then I just skip some minutes(doesn't matter how much you skip) then as soon as I click split on windows movie maker, it says: windows movie maker has stopped responding; windows movie maker is restarting.
and I tried splitting other videos that require the DivX codec, and I still get the same results, this only started happening yesterday when I checked for DivX updates, and since it updated to DivX Codec 6.9.1 it just wouldn't let me split videos on windows movie maker, before it was fine, but now its just no good, anyways that's the main issue right there: not being able to split videos that require the DivX codec.
I hope this might have brought the attention to people out there, and I hope DivX can somehow manage to fix this error
RENZA~
by the way, I use windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit color. (I don't know if this info if might help)
NEW ISSUE FOUND ON WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER!!
alright this issue is similar to the one I talked about ↑ there:
okay as you know when you split a video on WMM it says t stop working & all of that, well I tried splitting the video really fast and tried publishing to my computer(for windows xp users its; save to computer, as I last remembered...)okay when the video is saved to the computer, when you play the video(which is now a Windows Media Audio/Video file (.wmv) it will play correctly but the problem is that half of the video is just a pure green screen and the half top of the video is the actual video(looks all smudged up) but yea that's the issue I found, and really that's a big concern because you cant really see the video at all.
(sorry for my crudy grammar, I was being lazy at the time, & more concerned with the issue)
Sample: I will also leave you a 1 minute video sample so you can see the problem.

(that video should explain the green bottom screen issue)

As I mentioned in my first post I'm running the previous version of divx on my secondary computer, and it plays all of my videos perfectly. What they should do is just allow you to uninstall this current version of divx (which sucks, don't they test this stuff before releasing it) and just provide you with the previous version. I have another question; does anybody from divx actually read these posts and try to correct the problem, or are we all just ranting with no hopes of getting this issue resolved?
well yes they do read all the posts but remember there are other DivX related issues for different systems or so and they have to get working on that, also may I request something from you? can you please post a link to the DivX version you have? the previous version of DivX because I'm tired of waiting so i wanna go back to a previous version and wait until they come out w/ an update that works properly.
I am having the same problems - all was working fine under the older program. Since changing over to Divx 7, all of my avi files either do not play or go quickly, then freeze and the audio keeps going. Any help would be appreciated
Also i would like to say that in windows media player if you have an avi file that requires the DivX codec and you publish/save to your computer/laptop and if you click on more settings and set on avi instead of the normal custom settings(wmv) which when you save it to your computer it doesn't have that half green bottom screen issue but then it takes up to much space on your computer :/
I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one having issues with the latest version of divx. As soon as I updated to the latest version of divx all of my divx videos that used to work perfectly on windows media player started giving me serious problems. The most common of which is that when I try to either jump ahead, or go back to a spot in the video, the audio continues to work but the actual video never gets there, the screen just freezes with the last frame. I have another computer in the house which I haven't updated yet, and the same videos work great. BTW I'm using windows vista. Let me know if anybody has figured out a solution for this problem. Thanks.
yea you have the exact same problem I have, but for right now all that we DivX users can do wait for another new update version of the DivX codec :/
Windows media player does not respond (OR IT TAKE NOT SUITABLE >~1 MINS to start playing)with new divx 6.9.1
Actually it's Divx problem since the same story with any other players (for example VLC or VirtualDub or any converters)
I think this is CRITICAL!!!
A few days ago I routinely allowed a DivX update(current DivX Player-7.2.0, Codec-6.9.1, Converter-7.1.0, H264 Decoder-1.1.0). I frequently make DVDs of downloaded movies using Windows DVD Maker and it has always worked for me without problems. Now I can not make a DVD using Win DVD Maker. The process is always interrupted and I get a message the DivX Codec has stopped working. I have tried everything to fix this. There is no update available. I tried to remove DivX but that causes my movie files to corrupt. I don't know what to do. If I could get rid of DivX without affecting other on my computer, I would do this.
Hey guys,
We're investigating it :)
yea i got the same problem just this morning! maybe uninstalling divx will work?
well i tried doing that, and it didn't work, because of the new DivX codec update, but I guess ill just wait until DivX staff members fix the bug/issue.
Also just want to add a little side note, more like another issue i noticed, when I play a avi. fle that requires the DivX codec, if you try to like fast forward it a bit on windows media player/windows movie maker, it kinda freezes, well the video does, you can hear the audio playing to where you skipped the video at.
Example: while playing the video on windows movie maker, grab the little seeker(the lil oval shaped button that goes to the right while video plays) and move it forward or backwards, by now this means your fast-forwarding the video or rewinding, but yea the video just freezes and the audio is still going.
just thought I should mention that.
haven't tried that, but I doubt it because I bet if you try to reinstall it, it will include that new 6.9.1 DivX codec issue..hmm..Ima try it and see if it includes that update..
