Why was burner removed from 7.0

Why was burner removed from 7.0

First I want to say hi, since I'm new to the forum.

I finally got smart like our overseas brethren and joined in on the Divx bandwagon. It is such a better format, but everyone here know that.
My question is why was the burner removed from the player or am I missing an option to open it up some where? 7.0 only feature is to download or play from purchased divx sites. Why would this negate the need for a burner.

I know I sound a bit gripey, but I bought a Panasonic DMR-EZ28K, just to play divx files and I rarely watch on my computer, so this this move was to get out of the vob stockpile.
I dont know why, but it seems that the only format that the DVD players plays divx in is whatever format the divx 6.8.5 burns them at.
I also cant just use any avi/divx format. I have to convert using the Divx convertor and then use the Divx burner or it will not play. The dvd player says its incompatible.

I went throug alot of dvd's to figure this out. I unfortunately can't convert with convertor past the "home theater", If I use 720, or 1080p divx plus conversions, I get incompatible.
I haven't gained enough knowledge to know if I change the bitrate or sound a little before the conversion would make the difference.

Any help would be appreciated?

Thanks

Is 7.0 an attempt to be like Roxio Cinemanow. You can buy the movies, but can only watch them on a registered device.

Hi Lemur,

I still tried the windows trick yet, but will shortly. I had ran out of dvd's, but I just got some more in and I'm gonna try.

I did attempt to try the other method, but it seemed like a usb burn.

What if I set it up to burn so other players can see it and drag my files and and when Im done click burn? I have enoough now for trial and error.

I was also gonna try sing media players burner and see if that would work. It really matters as long as it is a iso9660 1 or 2 (no extendend) and Joliet. Which I have the best luck with both, iso9660 + joliet. just one usually fails.

I have been learning more since my last trip here. I discovered that my dvd recorder/player for my tv plays besides playing Divx5 home theatre, It will play Xvid, as long as I encode it with q pell.

Not a tuff choice there even though with Xvid I lose some compression gaining more size to file, but it is still weird I have to burn it using the Divx burner.

I quoted what the actual message.

We were discussing that the burner was suppose to return. What happened to those plans?

I hope those plans werent scraped. I have been looking forward to it. Oh and please dont change whatever timing y'all use on the old one or have something like a switch for divx home theatre.

We see the end product, I can barely imagine the pains involved in making such thing. Timing between the computer and the laser to the dvd and the that changes for different mkv and divx plus and their different audio.
Then you you have to tie all that into your original program and make it work without it crashing.

Sorry pretty chatty tonight, I'm done.

The latest build of the DivX

The latest build of the DivX Player 7.3 for VOD content does not include a built in burning engine at this time. This option will be returning to the player in an upcoming release.

You can still burn your DivX files to CD or DVD by following the instructions in the following FAQ:

http://support.divx.com/faq/view/supportFAQen099/How-can-I-burn-DivX-files-to-CD-or-DVD-with-DivX-Player-73

For third party burning software make sure you burn the DivX files as Data or in Data mode.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the reply.
Ive been busy researching and trying to find programs to do this myself or I would have responded sooner.

I could have saved myself a ton of time by taking a minute to see if DIVX had an official response.

I just discovered what the post you posted said not more than 5 minutes ago. I was using TMPGenc authoring works and for their burner it popped open the windows iso burner.

Kind of a pain though, you have to convert the divx to an iso and then burn it. I guess the Divx burner did it for us.

Anyway thanks for the help.

I'll be waiting for 7.4

Txnnok, It sounds like your

Txnnok,

It sounds like your conversion software is converting your DivX files to a standard DVD format before burning. This is not how the DivX Player would do it. The DivX Player would burn the DivX files to disc as a simple data file.

Try using just the built in burning in Windows to burn the DivX file to disc. The link I provided in the previous post should work.
