I use a PVR-personal video recorder-that records to a Micro SD card using the file extension .AVI When the properties are examined it shows the codec DivX5.
The problem arises when the file is uploaded to a PC, which can't seem to play the footage.I've tried converting the files to other formats such as .mov, mpeg etc.,however the problem persists. Any help in order to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

What program are you using to play the files?

Have you tried DivX Player?

Mac to PC issues

The PC is running Vista with the usual video players,QuickTime, Windows Media Player etc. I burned a cross platform CD and it still didn't work. There are two files in question 1 is 4.5 mins long converted to .mov, which plays on the PC just fine. The 2nd file is 38 mins long also converted to a .mov file and a pure black screen is all that shows in the player window. The same result in two different PC's. ??????????????????

If you have not downloaded the DivX Player, it should help

Download and install the free DivX player at www.divx.com if you have already done so. It should play the file. It should also enable file playback in Media Player.
