title says it all.
a. what do i remove from registry (have searched for divx and there are about 7 entries)
b. are there any more entries i should look for to remove?
c. then do i reinstall or rather buy win 7 compatible version as an upgrade to 6.8(legal, registered user)
d. i think the debris is causing some dll errors

thanks.

Try re-installing DivX, then

Try re-installing DivX, then uninstalling it using the official uninstaller (on your Start menu), then re-install it once again.

If you still have problems you will need to provide much more detail for anyone to be able to help you, "i think the debris is causing some dll errors" could be anything ;)

At the very least, tell us:

* Exactly what you were doing
* Detailed information about any media you were trying to play at the time, e.g. from MediaInfo.
* All of the information available to you in any error windows.
