I installed the latest version of the tech preview on a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional x64 in an attempt to play MKVs through Media Center. However, when I browse my Video Library, through Media Center, and select the MKV file I want to play I get the following message:

Windows Media Center cannot find the specified file. Be sure the path is typed correctly. If it is, the file does not exist at the specified location, or the computer where the file is stored is offline.

I know the file location is valid as I can play the file with WMP12. Is anyone familiar with a fix to this issue?

Thanks,

Loren

Same here

I'm having exactly the same problem. Long filenames aren't the problem. My filenames are pretty short, and the files are in a folder right off the root of the drive as well. The files play fine in WMP, and they show up (with thumbnails and everything) in Media Center. When I try to play them, however, I get the "cannot find the file specified" error. Frustrating.

This is most likely some kind of registry issue, but I've checked the usual suspects and I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I'll post back if I do.

Is it a filename that is

Is it a filename that is really long ? If so try with a shorter one.
Dunno if this works but in some cases it does.
