Divx Connected and Windows 7
Hi,
I have a DLink DSM-330 which worked perfectly with Windows XP with DivxConnected. However, ever since I installed Windows 7, I get a black screen. My system is not available. It does connect to the server but the menu never shows up (black screen).
Is their an issue with Windows 7 ?
Thanks for your help !
I've just installed Win7 64 bit, when first tried Divx Connected it told me to update the video driver, which I did. Now connected won't even play.
Has anyone any suggestions on how to fix this ?
I am hoping to install Windows 7 (64 bit) at some point in the near future. Can any of the Connected aficionados confirm that all is well with Windows 7 as it seems that quite a few people are experiencing problems. Am I going to have to dual boot with Vista?
Divx Connected works fine with Seven 32bit
Many thanks :)
64 bit anyone?
Works fine. Had to run the connected software as Administrator (see post) dut works fine as a 32 bit prog under W7 (64)
Thanks for that. Hopefully get around to it this weekend...
In case anyone is interested...
DSM-330's are back in stock at Amazon.co.uk for the reduced price of £89.99. After weeks of consideration I decided to purchase a second one, received yesterday.
I still feel that, regardless of the cessation of software development, the 330 is still the most cost effective way of streaming home media. I contemplated waiting for the new Popcorn Hour C-200, but at twice the price of a 330 I decided not to bother.
DivX Connected is still, for me, the very best home entertainment solution. Although, I eagerly await this new offering mentioned by porfitron - WE NEED MORE INPUT! Please, tell us more!!!

Changed my post to reflect fact finally got Windows 7 to work with Connected.
Connected worked fine on my netbook running Windows 7 - rendering was slow though as expected.
On my main desktop however, I ran into major problems. Graphics card (a slightly elderly Radeon 1300/1550) from ATI was working fine by the Microsoft supplied drivers (via ATI) on installation. However, Connected informed me that they didn't support Open GL. No problem I thought as I went to download the latest legacy drivers from ATI. However, on trying to install these drivers, kept getting the dreaded BSOD, crashing non-stop on every single attempt at installing the new drivers. After a whole day pulling my hair out and getting seriously worried wouldn't be able to get Connected going, finally downloaded an older driver version for Vista that works with Windows 7 (for those with ATI/AMD Video Cards, give Ver. 8.582.0.0000 a go). My TV now happily detects and runs the server.
So bottom line, if any of you are having problems running Connected on Windows 7, my first port of call would be to look at your graphics card and try change it to a non-Microsoft provided one (even though the one provided apparently came from ATI).
