Could anyone tell me if this will work? I'd like to buy a computer monitor to watch video on (DVDs and internet tv) and want to know if it will work with my dvd player. The monitor has a dvi interface and the dvd player has HDMI. Will it work and if so what cables might I need?

Many thanks!

Video Only

Yes, an HDMI to DVI adapter will work, but just for the video (no sound). HDMI usually carries audio and video. So, if you're going to use an HDMI/DVI adapter, you'll need another cable to pass the audio. You can usually use standard stereo cables or if your setup has optical, you can use one of those and still get surround sound.

Check out monoprice.com since they have virtually every cable and their prices are pretty cheap.

Hi porfitron, thanks so much for advice - it was very useful. I'm a bit new to this technology and your reply has helped a great deal. Terryofbucks
