Hi,

I checked my logs today and noticed tons of entries for the DivX decoder.
They all look like this:

24/11/09 10:09:45 UserNotificationCenter[1867] Error loading /Library/QuickTime/DivX Decoder.component/Contents/MacOS/DivX Decoder: dlopen(/Library/QuickTime/DivX Decoder.component/Contents/MacOS/DivX Decoder, 262): no suitable image found. Did find:
/Library/QuickTime/DivX Decoder.component/Contents/MacOS/DivX Decoder: no matching architecture in universal wrapper

Apparently, something is wrong with the Universal structure of the Encoder and QuickTime continuously displays these warnings.

I'm using the latest DivX package for Mac (7.2) on a Mac Pro 4 x 3.0GHz, 8GB RAM, under MacOS X 10.6.2.

My Mac is 64-bit capable, though I'm not sure the DivX encoder is in any way optimized for 64 bit :-\

Of note… even the prefpane isn't 64 bit and requires relaunching the System preferences to launch in 32 bit.

I eventually decided to disable the decoder. No more warning, no more problem. I enabled Perian instead.
Their decoder is 64 bit and does a fairly good job.

No comment on these warnings?

I'm still waiting on a response as to why the fancy-pants-use-all-these-cool-sounding-features-opengl-renderer is so slow. Not gonna happen I guess :/

Well it looks like the nasty

Well it looks like the nasty issues on the Mac version are low priority right now :-\
The DivX seems to be completely depreciated by DivX Corp for the new AAV/AAC in an mkv container and since we already have pretty good support for the same format in an .m4 or mov container, there isn't much new for us Mac users… Nothing really compelling.
A good player, or encoder would have made a significant difference, but none are optimized for us :-|

It looks like my days using DivX Corp software are counted… :'-(

Speaking of which, why are these topics being moved all over the forum. Its annoying.

I'd also throw in there that the Windows side of things must be suffering as well.

I don't know. I track them using the "tracker" for my posts.
I really wish we had e-mail or RSS notifications though :-\ (though, before it was brought down, it hadn't worked in the regular DivX forum in ages either…)

PeskyPescado must be on vacation. I wonder where our responses are.
