MKV Files will only fast forward and not play?
Having a problem with my DIVX.
it seems i can only Fast forward the video but it will not play??
strange problem but MKV files seem to work in VLC ok but for some reason not DIVX
can anyone help?
just watched a .mkv movie in divX with no problem, watched some tv episodes (.avi) on the divX player, and then went to watch another .mkv movie but this time the .mkv wouldn't play. same symptoms as above: can ff/rw/etc but not play.
opened the file in windows media player, no problems.
solution: use WMP
Had the same issue but with .avi files.
No normal playback, only fast forward.
I recently updated SUPER which also installed a new version of ffdshow.
Solution was to uninstall the new version of ffdshow and all was fine again.
FYI, system is WinVista.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
RVR79
I got the same problem playing DivX files too, just made with DivX7-converter. Home theater mode (720x400) with AC-3 sound.
I use AC-3filter v. 1.63b(download of today) and it made the sound works.
The DivX player 7 does't play. It is only showing snapshots and playback i FF and FR mode!
Windows Media Player works fine!
I am using Vista 32.
WTF is wrong? Give me a clair answer, Mr. DivX
Best regard
Hans

MKV files were playing excellent up until about a week ago, now they do not play?
as the OP says, it can fast forward, rewind etc...but not play! Very strange!
I checked for any recent updates and there was an update, but that did not help.
Today I downloaded version 8.1.2 build 10.2.1-20 Nesmith and tried to play an MKV file on my WIN7 64 Bit box. Like others above, I can see the file, fast forward the file at all different speeds, rewind it... everything except play the stupid thing. No luck, including after removal and reinstallation.
Has anyone found a reliable fix for this? Hello DIVX, I'm talking to you too!!!

DivX has for a while now had a problem with just missing 1 frame resulting in it hitting the stop button, these files you can still FF and RW and depending on the amount of missing Data it can sometimes play if set to play after the missing data
really annoying though because it tends to jump a couple of seconds back when started after FF or RW.
how to fix it, i have not a clue, but the other players still works great
(except vlc which is almost the same as flash player)
the best free player for windows i would say is WMP, if your willing to pay for it i suggest TMT (Total Media Theater) it play blu-rays and 3d great :)
