problems with Divx Player in Windows 7/64
Hello,
Is the Divx Player compatible with Windows 7/64? I loaded an .mkv and it would not play. I was able to FF and REW but not play. Also, no sound. Then about 10 minutes later, the file started to play correctly, but still, no sound (the Divx Player does not even show up in my Windows 7 audio mixer?). This happened with 3 different .mkv files that I tried. I am using an ATI Radeon HD 4770 and an Intel E8500 3.0GHz with 4gig of RAM. Also, my playback file info is as follows:
Video Render: Direct3D Video Renderer
Video Decoder: DivX AVC Decoder 7 Beta 3
Video Format: H.264
Audio Decoder: Direct Show Decoder
Audio Format: DTS Audio (Tag 8193)
I usually use The KMPlayer which has played everything I throw at it, but I wanted to try something different for a change. Any help is appreciated.
I am having the same problem when i install Divx most movies work fine but some dont have sound but without divx installed windows media player plays the files fine its when I install divx the problem of no sound in both divx and media player start. I dont understand this. My Pc is 2 days old i purchased it yesterday and I love divx and would like to use it again but with divx installed the sound on windows media player stops also if i install a third party codec like Directshow, ffw, AC3 windows media player obtains the sound but the video goes really laggy and the sound does not match the video the video freezes and then couple of minutes latter the sound appears not matching the video.
Thank you for any help
I found a solution to the problem of no AC3 audio with the DivX player. The problem in my case wasn't actually the DivX player but the AC3 filters on my system.
Use the application graphedit to run a video file with AC3 audio and check what AC3 filters are being used. I use AC3 filter so try use this or ffdshow etc and make sure that is the first audio filter being used. If not, remove the prior filter and recheck. Quite a few applications install their own AC3 filters (eg decoder) which can mess things around.
VLC and GOM often play well because they use their own internal video AND audio codecs. DivX Player doesn't have the AC3 codec hence the occasional difficulties that may be encountered.
when ever i try to load a movie on net which requires this DivX
it says that it is unable to load
pls check net connection
while i am connected to net
:( :(
pls help
have u updated ur Divx player recently or ur browser i updated my firefox and it says Divx player is not compatible with firefox
I'm on the same boat, windows 7 64bit, Home Premium, Celeron Mobile CPU, 3gigs of ram....VLC and MEDIA PLAYER work fine, in Divx player movie actually opens and plays fine, but it has no audio, period.
It's a shame really, since I joined this forum just to see if there was a fix, but how can you be encouraged to use a product that has a MAJOR flaw, reported over 3 months ago and the developer can't at least put a note in and say: "Hey, we know about it and we are working on it, thanks for your patience"...........and this is THEIR forum..
same here - it's a shame no one from DivX seems to care about this problem, could we please finally get any answer ? It all worked fine for me with my Windows 7 RC ... now with the full ultimate 64: no picture, about 5-10 minutes later the picture appears - but still no sound. fastforward plays fine from the first second i open the file.
all the others players are working - but i'd love to use the Divx Player again
Guys,
I've had the same problem but on Windows 32bit with regard to playing MKV's with AC3. Specifically, video won't start playing but you can rewind and fast forward. Other times, the player might crash until I use the DivX all in one fix. The same files play flawlessly if I use VLC, GOM or Windows Media Player.
What I have found that is if you turn off the audio from within the DivX player, the movie will start playing. Let me know if this can be replicated in your cases as it might start to point the finger at the AC3 codec etc
well mkv just came to divx so ofcourse there are bugs to fix but it's also possible that mkv must be loaded fully before it can play because because mkv uses an container so it could start playing when it has enough data
Same here. No sound.
Picture takes about 3-5 minutes to show.
I have a Windows 7 64-bit OS. Same hardware worked fine under Vista 64-bit.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
I downloaded the latest version of divx and still have problems buffering movies to watch on my pc.why is it it takes so long to load and sometimes doesnt even load at all?
Hello there... same problem here. Has anyone come to a conclusion about this? Would really need a help here.. ;)
Thanks!

When opening an AVI file in player, it will start playing, show the intro, start the first scene, then drop it and display a KEEP UP WITH DIVX message, and a link to facebook. It doesn't happen with all avi files, and only started doing this a few weeks ago. Does anyone know if this is a player problem or media one?
Thanks
