MAC OS X 10.6.2 Problem. AUDIO Play back for AC3 Dolby Digital…
I am running OS X 10.6.2 snow leopard on 2.4 GHz intel mac with ATI 2600 HD Video card w/256 Ram and 2GB of Ram.
I am trying to stream a movie that is encoded in AC3 audio and I cant get it to play audio…
I've tried DL'ing encoders but not sure if I DL'ed the right one…
When I try to play it it says QUICKTIME needs AC3 encoder but I can't find that so I tried DL'ing and installing another AC3 encoder.
Any Help from anyone with the same issue please please Help.
Any Links to something that will work will be very helpful.
Does Divx not have 5.1 audio built in to its player? If not thats lame...

Have you tried installing the latest version of Perian?
It usually takes care of most of the audio codec issues people have on their Macs.
Let us know if you still having issues after trying this out.
I installed that after searching google and found Perian. After installing it the Ac3 dolby digital audio still didn't…
All i get when playing back an AC3 encoded movie is a loud screeching sound.
I had it hooked up to my Denon AVR3300 which does Dolby Digital, DTS, and Pro Logic but no sound would come through...
I used an Optical Cable from the back of my Mac to the Denon receiver so I had a Digital link between the two but no sound. When I went in to System Preferences and tested the audio, I could hear the system sounds but no movie sounds...
On a side note when playing a movie from iTunes I can get 5.1 audio just not when using Divx...

Having seemingly the same issue.
Divx Pro installed.
Perian Installed.
Computer Specs:
2.4 Core 2 Duo
4 Gb Memory
Snow Leopard 10.6.2
I'm still getting an error message telling me to install a codec.
