DivX Plus Devices Are Here
CES 2010 brought a bunch of exciting announcements from DivX, including DivX TV and confirmation from two manufacturers that there will be DivX Plus HD certified devices in the wild in 2010: Philips to release a line of DivX Plus HD certified Blu-ray players, and Seagate to DivX Plus HD certify a version of the FreeAgent Theater+ HD media player.

DivX was proud to sponsor another year of BarCamp San Diego, hosted on the Intuit campus in Carmel Valley. There, we presented a workshop on HD Video Blogging with the DivX Plus Web Player, which went from device capture, to file preparation, to file hosting service, to live off a blog in glorious DivX Plus HD (MKV, H.264, AAC). We captured the event itself and it’s posted using the very same methods.
HandBrake Can Do DivX Plus HD
With the solid announcement of DivX Plus HD devices in the near future, it seemed important to help people prepare their video content for the occasion. We’ve already published a DivX Plus encoding tutorial in our DivX Developer Portal, which includes our reference beta encoders, and we’ve even seen the StaxRip project implement the x264 compatible presets. We’ve followed up by publishing some compatible settings for HandBrake, which is capable of creating MKV files with H.264 video and AAC audio.
