Divx Pops up repeatedly in the taskbar tray

I think that I have the same thing popping up in my task bar (I get the divx logo in the task bar; but it isn't the player, it is a menu navigator). I hate it when it appears because it usually freezes my computer for a minute, and i get an unexpected error/had to close message. It used to pop up every time that I accessed the library on windows media player and/or Realplayer. I finally got tired of the constant crashing and had to stop realplayer and wmp from monitoring folders containing divx files. That's how I worked around the problem. I don't know how to get it to "turn off" once it pops up.
