Player Codec Update
Every time I open DivX Player 6.8, I get a notice that there's an upgrade to the codecs. However, if I click on the upgrade, there's no codec upgrade, it's a PROGRAM upgrade to DivX Player 7.
I installed Player 7, it screwed up all my drivers, I couldn't burn any movies regardless of the burn program I used. I couldn't drag-and-drop to Player 7 because my drive no longer recognized the DVD in it, it's a very poor design. I ended up having to uninstall my burning programs (iTunes, Nero and the DivX upgrade) roll back to the 6.8 version of the player and then reinstall the other two programs.
I don't want Player 7 until they do something to work out the bugs. I don't have time to keep uninstalling and reinstalling programs.
How do I get the false upgrade notice to stop? How do I update the 'real' codecs if it's necessary? Why did DivX have to screw up a good thing?
