Dr. DivX and Windows 7
I have been using Dr. DivX for some time with no issues. When I upgraded to Win7, I still had no issues.
Since I have tried to reinstall Dr. DivX, I can't get it to work. I have used the Win7 compatibility tab to install it as compatible with Vista, but it still won't work.
When I click on 'encode' the message 'Failed, encoding Audio' appears immediately.
Wondering if there is any thought to creating a Win7 version.
Wondering if anyone knows a workaround for this issue.
Here's hoping.
DivX isn't making it. I am. BUT, I switched to x264 and XviD because DivX was unable to help me. It is now called Gearbox, and I'm nearing the Beta. If you'd like to test it, I'm always looking for more feedback. I know it's nearly impossible to polish it, but I do not have the time to develop it full time.
The Alpha was awful and is the only one to have DivX support. I basically rewrote it and have been coding it ever since in my free time.
PM me if you're interested.

Yes, thoughts have been made and presently, I'm working on a new encoder that I hope will replace Dr. DivX altogether.
It's still in testing, and I will make an announcement this week to test out the public Alpha release. It was supposed to be yesterday, but I've had a report of the encoder not functioning so I'm looking into why that is.

Windows 7 doesn't like other codecs to mess it's codec. Many of that problem you have can be solved by installing the proper codec. But like I say, many times, Windows 7 don't like third-party codecs to mess up their system. Google for more info concerning the restriction Microsoft's stance on their codec rivalry.

I used DrDivX with WinXP had never had problems, but in Win7 X64, it just doesn't work right. Sometimes it errors out right away, other times it starts to encode and then stops responding after about 5 minutes and I have to use the task manager to kill the program. Even though DrDivX wasn't the fastest, it had the best results of all the different encoders I've tried. I really liked the custom size feature where you could enter whatever size you wanted for the output file, and Dr DivX would convert to that file size with the best possible quality. From what I read above, a new version was to be released as a public Alpha back in Feb or March 2010.... what happened? I'd really like to have an updated DrDivX for x64 Windows 7.
THANKS!
