Problems with DivX OVS
I installed the new DivX 7 on two computers on my network, with the intent to register a DivX capable DVD recorder/player, but on the windows 7 machine it causes damage to either IE8 or to the winsock connection, so I lose internet connection, while on both that machine and a Windows XP Pro SP3 machine it does not run the DivX player. I have uninstalled, cleaned up the directories, files, registry, but in both cases I cannot get into the player, while the web player seems to work (badly, but passable).
Since these are completely independent machines, something must be wrong with the installer, as well since I installed the new DivX 7, I did not expect to have to download and install the new DivX-OVS system. And since I do not have the option to log in without installing it, I am at a loss to ever register my device.

What is Divx OVS anyway? I know the acronym means "Open Video System", but other than that - I don't much. I cannot find a single reference (other than threads in the labs for people who are downloading video movies) on the Divx site. Other than an obfuscated download reference download.divx.com/player/DivXOVSPlayerInstaller.exe that the 'real' Divx player is pointing to, I cannot find it anywhere in their download section.
