Tech Preview not installing on Windows 7 Ult x64 retail.
Hi there. I'm having trouble installing the Tech Preview on a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 retail version.
After the windows & driver install it's the first app I try and install. I've tried "Running as administrator" and normally. I've installed off a memory stick and the desktop. Each time all the other parts of DIVX 7 will install, but the microsoft C++ redist and the tech preview for windows 7 don't show under installed programs and features. I've even downloaded the C++ redist seperately and installed it in an attempt to get the tech preview installed. I've tried the clean install multiple times as well.
The machine is an Intel i5-750
Intel DP55WB motherboard
4Gb DDR3 memory
500Gb Seagate HDD
Any ideas/help? I'm really getting frustrated by this.

Try playing the same movies
Try playing the same movies from yesterday. Do they play fine? I get black screen (no video, only audio) from some movies/videos. If the videos which show up as a black screen with only audio had their audio as DTS, you might want to convert them to AC3. Sometimes they play fine after that. In case the videos have more than one audio track, you might have to also remove one of them.
However in some cases, the video profile is 'high' and these videos don't play in the Xbox.

No. None of the videos play anymore. I've needed to install AC3Filter each time to get any of my MKV's working. I just don't see why it should work initially and then not without any alteration to the system.
And to be honest, altering the MKV's just to play on my xbox is stupid. I'd rather move my server to the living room and output directly to my TV.

I remember that the Tech Preview wasnt showing for me either under installed programs and features - I am talking this for the Divx Installer which includes Tech Preview now. I dont however remember if the Tech preview was working as it should have; what I did was I installed DivxTechPreview R3 (the standalone Tech Preview) over the DivX Installer. It then showed up under the installed program.
I believe you should be able to find the standalone DivxTechPreview R3 installer (I am assuming you dont really have a need for the rest of the stuff that is included in the DivX installer).
Thanks for the info. Got
Thanks for the info. Got hold of the standalone installer and after some effort got it working. Watched 3 movies without hassle. Shut down my server and xbox for the night, and after booting up the next day all I would see is a black screen after starting a movie...
So I'm really just getting annoyed at this point. I can't imagine I'd be the only one with this problem.
I've also tried the new DIVXPlus in ana attempt to get it working with the same outcome...
