divx freezes my machine on vista64 Plz. Help

hi there :)

i´ve an big problem watching divx movies on my working machine. I work in the tv/games industry as a 3d effects
specialist... so i run some 3d apps on my machine. if i try to watch a movie beside of my work (stage6 , joox)
all worked fine for some minutes and then feezes the whole machine. only a restart can help. without doing some 3d stuff all works fine.. someone know about this problem???

here some specs : machine intel core 2 quad board asus striker extreme , 8 GB ram , vista 64 ultimate ,2x Asus 8800ultra Sli..

plz. Help.. its boring without some entertainment :)

This exact same thing happened to me for a while and i thought it was loads of things, thought it may have been a coolant issue as it was similair to a CPU overheat, took my pc to pieces thinking it was the coolant not pumping round, just freezing, turns out it was the pci wirless card i bought, so i bought an airbit pci-e card and havent had the problem sincem it only happened when the transfer rate was too high for the card (cheap) i paid £6 for it.

I think it was trying to draw too much power and it was causing conflicts. Try it wired and see if it does the same.

I'm now running sweet

vista 64 bit SP1
pentium core 2 duo 2.8
6 gigs ram
2tb hd
asus p965 neo motherboard
ati radeon hd 4670 1 gb DDR3

no.. its the normal vista 64

no.. its the normal vista 64 ultimate.. without the servicepack..
some other thoughts??

does the same happen in DivX Player or in WMP if you play a divx file?

i think it has something to do with opengl.. its only with apps that use this..??!!

what vista SP

is this a SP1 machine? Some users have had issues with Installing DivX on Vista SP1.
