Problems of video/sound sync since 1.1.0 - b12 upgrade

Problems of video/sound sync since 1.1.0 - b12 upgrade

Hi all,

Since i updated the server version, I noticed most of my videos (divx, mkv, whatever) get more and more sound in advance to picture while watching. I need to regularly "resync" the sound by moving forward/backward, but after like 10mins the offest is annoying again.

Anybody faced this problem ? Would it be a coincidence it appeared after the software upgrade ?

Thanks for you help

To be honest I have noticed

To be honest I have noticed a few of my films being out of sync since upgrading. When trying them on the pc they work fine.

I too have seen this problem

I too have seen this problem occuring since updating to the new server software.
Even worse than this though, there has also been a problem with some of my files now having no sound!

I would sacrifice the new features just to have a stable(r) release again!

We are looking into this issue now

I have been able to demonstrate a slight A/V sync issue on some parts of some videos and engineering is now looking into the cause.

I would be really helpful to get any videos that show the problems more severely.

Also, if you could send one of the the videos without sound, that would help. We do have a known issue of videos with audio sample rates below 32Khz not playing audio or distorting it when using HDMI for the audio connection. This is a firmware issue and unrelated to the recent server update. We will have a fix for it soon.

The file is quite large but

The file is quite large but I can give you some info on it...

Quote:
File Format: Audio-Video Interleaved (AVI)
Content: Video and Audio
Duration: 4 min 19 sec
Data Rate: 1851 kbps (ave)
Video Info: 640 x 352, 25 fps
Audio Info: 48000 Hz, 448.0 kbps, stereo
FourCC: "XVID"
Audio Format: DVM
Format ID: 0x2000
Author: FAST Multimedia AG

As you can see the audio is not MP3 (AC3?), but it does play fine in version 1.0.2 Build: 3 of the server software.

Are you having this problem with all of your AC3 files?

Are there other files types that do not play audio or just this one or a few. If it is just a few, we would really need at least a small sample portion of the file that shows the problem, if you know how to do such a thing.

File Sample

Hi

I don't think the problem happens with all my AC3 audio encoded video files, as this is the 1st avi I've had this problem with. To be honest I haven't had time to try them all yet ( I have hundreds of avi's).

Anyway, here's a small 22 second sample of the file that has the no sound problem in the new server build.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this issue.

I am hearing sound via the RCA outputs

I played your clip and heard sound.

How is your device connected for audio?

HDMI

It's connected to my HDTV using the supplied HDMI lead...

Can you download this video and try it?

IS the problem obvious or subtle?

I have played the video below and do not see any a/v sync issues. If you can also play it fine, then the issues you are seeing may be specific to a file in which case we would need to get a file from you to see it ourselves in order to fix it.

FYI, if you watch at 9min 30sec (press 4) you will see why chose this clip. :)

Can you give us a video as an example?

I have not heard any other mention of this, but if we can duplicate it we will try to fix it in the next release.

Another problem here

Sometimes i have not just a slight AV sync problem, but a big one...
The audio plays fine, however somtimes the video plays at twice (guess) the speed. After powering down and restarting the server the file plays fine. I have to admit, this only happens with MKV+x264+AC3 files. Before the firmware update (beta) i have never experienced these problems. Maybe something to look into????
