DivX mobile S60V5 has bugs

I downloaded DivX Mobile Player for Symbian 60 Version 5 on my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

DivX Mobile Plays AVI Videos very slowly and it causes the Smartphone to be slow after video playback.

poor performance

i tried different ways to encode videos for the divx player and it still refuses to run smoothly.this app is pretty much useless if it cannot evens play divx mobile profile videos properly

Re: poor performance

Try disabling scaling (set Zoom to None in the options menu). We found that this is the bottleneck on some devices.

divx mobile and nokia 5800 xm

it is very good that finally version for symbian 5th came out. i have downloaded , has few problems.
1- file does not start playing while tapping on it , u need to tap option -> play.
2- it the video library of player only demo can be seen, u need to refresh video list every time u play. can be partly corrected if u place file directly in E/data/video , but works only with .divx extensions. not with .avi.
3- i have tried to play video file with following details but video interrupts and there is no audio sync.(audio is played of 10 minutes ahead of video). Format : MPEG-4 Visual

audio codec : AAC
audio bitrate :128
sample rate : 44100

A/V sync : basic

now this files is playing with inbuilt video player like a charm .
my question to all of u ppl how to optimize this file in divx for mobile , i fully understand performance of video player dependent both on hardware as well as software. easy way is to convert it by divx mobile converter, but i want to know if any specification u tried. thanks.

I am glad that you understand that the performance on a PC cannot be matched by a mobile device. Mobile speeds are rapidly increasing though, and with hardware acceleration (such as on DivX-certified devices) some devices can play upwards of 720p. Unfortunately, the 5800 is not one of those devices.

To optimize your files for DivX Mobile playback, first read the forum stickies. There are many good tips already there. Then try DivX Converter with the Mobile setting. This is optimized for most mobile devices. You can also match the video resolution to your phone's resolution. The scaling in DMP 1.0 is done in software and can be slow, so if the video resolution matches your phone, and you change the Video Zoom setting to none, you should have a better media experience.
