Getting on my nerves

Let me get one thing straight: I DON'T want to use DivX.

Ever since I installed DivX I have started getting a yellow bar which appears in Firefox asking me to "Install Missing Plugins" to use your DivX HiQ player on YouTube.

So I uninstalled DivX, thinking that would get rid of it.

But no, even after uninstalling DivX I still get that stupid yellow bar, shifting the whole page down, saying that I should install these "missing plugins".

I click the little cross to get rid of the little yellow bar, and the next time I load a video the same bar appears, again with the same message and also I can't get rid of that stupid blue play button for DivX HiQ player. It claims that I can "easily remove DivX HiQ through the extension manager". WHAT EXTENSION MANAGER?!?!?!

How do I get rid of this?

I tried Best of Breed this

I tried Best of Breed this year, have saved lots of time and money (and a lot of headaches) and am now kicking myself that I didn't change years ago.-FXDD

Hi there, i'm still waiting

Hi there,

i'm still waiting for a solution for this! this is the most annoying thing ever! i feel like never using divx player again!

Can't wait

I concur. I deleted Everything connected with DivX and still those extensions were there. I too am waiting for this fix. Also, I hope the new release is compatible with i7 core computers as all the other versions except 1.4.0.152 crashes Firefox browser.

Extensions Manager

To disable the browser extension, you do the following:

For Google Chrome, click on the wrench in the upper right, and go to "Tools" and then "Extensions." From there, you find the DivX HiQ and DivX HTML5 extensions and disable them from there.

For Firefox, you go to the "Tools" menu, and then choose "Add Ons". On the top of the Add Ons window, you can select "Extensions" and find DivX HiQ and DivX HTML5 on the list and manage them from there.

For Internet Explorer, it's "Tools", "Manage Add-ons", and in Toolbars and Extensions, you should find the DivX HiQ and DivX HTML5 extensions under DivX, Inc.

For Safari, go to "Preferences" and select "Extensions", and you'll see the DivX extensions in the list.

Please let us know if you need more help with this, and we appreciate any other feedback you might have about this Beta, so we can work to make improvements for a final release.

This is not working for me.

(I am using a Mac, OS X 10.6.5)

When I follow the above, I restart Firefox and it just reinstalls! It is driving me mad.

Disable

Are you at least able to disable it, so it doesn't appear anymore on the vide sites?

It turns out that even though we're following the Firefox documentation for adding plug-ins via an installer, they may not be easily un-installable because they're installed in the main profile.

We'll come up with a fix for this in the final release, but in the meantime, you should be able to disable the plug-in so it doesn't bug you.

We'll also post some manual deletion instructions soon...

Can you please tell me where

Can you please tell me where did you post the manual to delete this? it drives me crazy to see everytime this annoying yellow bar!

Regards

What a relief!

Thank you :)

pissing me of

Hi there, did u manage to delete this annoying program?

I'm having the same

I'm having the same problem... I've searched through this forum (and a few others) and still cannot find an answer.

I have already uninstalled DIVX using the mac uninstaller.

I've also manually deleted everything to do with Divx that I can find on my HD (Library/Application Support/DivX as well as manually removing the DivX plist files)

..But the DivX extensions still appear in my Firefox extensions manager.

I cannot remove or disable them from the extensions manager because they are greyed-out.

How do I get rid of them??
