Peer to Peer TV
I am absolutely an IT amateur but I have been watching football from abroad using TVU, Sopcast andothere P2P software for some time.
Is there a way that I can divert this stream into Divx Connected so that I can watch the games on my TV?
Thanks for any advice.
I tried giving it a shot, but could come up with nothing. Might be able to find something in the forum. http://forum.tvunetworks.com/forum/forums/list.page

Can you describe the process in a bit more detail? What format is the video in?
Hi
Thanks for the responses but being a total amateur I can't determine what the format of the stream is (nor do I really understand the question). I simply use a program called TVu and gerally tune in to channel 21500 (Fox sport).
I have tried capturing the stream using VLC and then playing it but I've not had any notable success so I will check out some of the sites that you guys have suggested - maybe they will give me the clue.
The comment about quality is absolutely true but being a real football addict, I'd rather watch a crabby reproduction than no reproduction at all.
Cheers all
Store as DivX using TVu capture software?
I would recommend changing the title of your original post to "Store as DivX using TVu capture software?" and also cross posting it to Connunity.com. You may get some help from other users on either forum in few days.
I've had a look at some of these sites. Not sure what format the video is in and it might change from station to station. But some of them use windows media player as their player witihin their own front end. Did notice though the vast majority of these streams are only running at less than 400kbps. Therefore I imagine that if the sites could be accessed via DivX connected the image quality would not be up to much.

VLC that is to say, Video Lan Client (with server) is going to be the closest thing ( In my humble experience) you will find to getting your vid caps re-coded on the fly to a divx stream. I cant run it all the way down for you but try the forums at video help ...super great people and experienced as well.
VLC with guides here :

..and you can't beat free.....
It seems perfectly doable...to recode to a divX stream...catching it is where I can't help. I don't have a connected. How will the player know the size of the video frames? The bits per second of the audio? Sounds interesting though. The player will have to know some of the properties of the stream it will output to TV. May already be a drop in fit for you but these are good places to snoop around.
Also snoop around here. You will find loads of gurus here and connected forums:
