UPDATE 2/17/11: How to Fix 0% Buffering Issue for DivX HiQ Beta - WINDOWS

UPDATE 2/17/11: YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THESE STEPS IF YOU HAVE THE LATEST VERSION OF THE DivX HiQ Beta. These instructions were for an older version of the DivX HiQ Beta. You can download the latest Beta 4 (released 2/10/11) here: http://labs.divx.com/node/14711#installers

If you are not using DivX Plus Web Player 2.1.1.94 / DivX HiQ Beta 4 or higher. Then please update or you can try these steps if you do not want to upgrade.

We have updated and improved the .bat file that will clear your DivX Plus Web Player cache (DDMService.exe) and improve playback if you are experiencing issues in Windows. Please download the file here and follow the instructions below:

Some of you may have experienced an issue where the video stays at 0% buffering. Below are some instructions which may help resolve this issue.

Step 1 If you see the web player stuck at 0% buffering, try these steps.

Step 2 Download the following batch file (.bat) to a location you can easily access such as your desktop: (DOWNLOAD HERE:) Right click the link and click "Save link as" or if you click the link and it opens in notepad simply rename and save the notepad file as "clean_ddm.bat"

Step 3 Double click or run the file you downloaded "clean_ddm.bat" This will clear your DivX Plus Web Player cache (temporarily stored data). When it's finished it will say "Press any key to continue"

Step 4 Retry DivX HiQ / DivX Plus Web Player

Thanks, Jeet (DivX Team)

Monster of All Web Players

I know nothing of writing programs, however I do know any version above the Divx web player 1.5 cannot be used on the majority of computers! Just read the forums of all the popular video websites for confirmation of this fact. Many newbies install the updated version of this "monster of a player" and allow it to run havoc on their computers until they finally become desperate and seek advice.

Unfortunately with each new version, the issues with the Divx web player remains. Why? What good is all the cosmetic upgrades if the players cannot be used? I found that even the Divx versions 1.5 and 1.4 caused considerable slow downs on my computer. I finally uninstalled it since watching free movies is not worth the cost of replacing my computer.

It is time for the developers to take their heads out of their behinds, fix this thing and stop giving users patches that do not work for the Divx user community at large!

It works for me, if i disable

It works for me, if i disable my McAfee VirusScan Enterprise + AntiSpyware 8.7.0i software to make the Web player with or without HiQ to work, the previous one work better, because it has no trouble with my virus scanner.

note: i never used a previous beta version before.

What a piss of crp

I install 8.1.2 Build 1.5.0.38 on XP SP3 & try web player on Youtube with Opera 11, IE8, Firefox 4.0 and player NOT shows up at all?
Nowhere, zero, nothing....?

New Beta still does not work

I just want to confirm the new beta 4 still does not work. The buffering is still on zero and the whole computer crashes terribly.

Also when upgrading to beta 4 the bat file to insert in the command prompt no longer works.

This completely ruined my computer and I had to reformat everything and re install my operating system.

When i tried again same thing. Nothing works.

Is there any other method to stop this buffer issue without ruining thousands of pcs in the world?

EDIT: Note also with the new beta there is no temporary folder for divx cache. I have searched for 14 hours and cant find it.

Also one question I am using windows 7 64 bit and i wanted to know what is the usefulness of the cache?

Why cant I just disable it? What will that do? Any harm? WHy add it in the first place?

fixing all divx player issues

Just go back to version divx7 here is the link, http://www.oldapps.com/divx_player.php?old_divx=32 it was hard to find a good one but this one works fine. On the left there are diffrent versions make sure you use ver 7.2.0.19 its the only one that worked for me and also when you go to play a movie it will ask you to upgrade to latest version just always decline and cancel. your welcome in advance lol.
You can watch movshare links too.

change of plan lol

so after downloading 7 i decided to try the new version and it works fine. Even after i restarted my pc. try downloading 7 then the new one maybe there is something to it. Before i downloaded 7 i removed all divx files from registry and removed all divx apps. go to start menu and type regedit and comb through all the files on the upper left. i hope this does not sound to retarded

dont work for me, the bat

dont work for me, the bat file says: The process "DDMService.exe" not found.
and the player sends a message "the divx web player video coulnd download check your internet connection", i am surfing in my work behind an isa proxy, i think this might be the problem, or the buffering 0% ....still not working for me

alexsalo we just released an

alexsalo we just released an updated version today 2/10/11. check it out and let us know if it resoles your issue. http://labs.divx.com/node/16863

windows 7 64 bit doesn't make the files in the first place

even thought im not in entirely sure the files the batch file tries to delete is in the folder it says it is, the files were never there in the first place
which are here:
C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Local\Temp\DDM

the files are never made for some reason, atleast in my chase.
so deleting them aint gonna do much good

any idea why or how to fix it

also it's really annoying that i can't find the latest stable release anywhere
when i download it from divx.com i still get the HIQ/HTML5 Beta version

ps. i found the boost_interprocess folder in C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Local\Temp\Low\boost_interprocess

Hi. When I download the .bat

worked for me

I followed JeetDivX's instructions and it worked for me. It still works after rebooting. I'm using Win7-32. Thanks

This worked for me under Win7-64 BUT ONLY FOR ONE TIME.

As soon as I rebooted and tried to use the web player again I got the same 0% buffering error.

When I used the .bat file it fixed it again but only until I rebooted.

So this is not a real solution, it is a temporary workround that helps trace the problem and means that I can use the web plaeyr if I am totally desparate to use it.

But the simpler solution is to stop using the web player until there is a proper software fix for the web player.

.bat file does not work in Vista and Windows 7

Hi there

The fix file (.bat) is being downloaded as a txt file all the time and despite several attempts on both a Vista and Windows 7 machines there seems to be no way to download it as a bat file. I've tried suggestions listed here.

Any ideas for downloading the .bat file? DIVX Web player is not working at all and just seems to be a good way of crashing my machine.

I can't download the bat

That's what I did but It

Good day!
The second week I spend experimenting with divx web player.

At first there was a video stream but no sound.
Put DirectShow.
As a result, there is buffering but no video stream.
------------------------
Reset dix plus - is not buffering.
------------------------
Tried to reinstall the operating system. Reinstalling did not produce any results.

The problem is seen as on windows XP and windows 7.

Registry cleening with:
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ DivX \ Install \ Update]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Wow6432Node \ Microsoft \ DirectDraw \ MostRecentApplication]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run]
"DivX Download Manager" =-
"DivXUpdate" =-
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ DivX \ Settings \ Update]
"UpdateCheckProhibited" =-
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Internet Settings]
"ProxyHttp1.1" = dword: 00000000

What are some ideas to solve the problem.
Guys, please help.

Oh snap I didn't notice that in the post

LOL, dude I totally missed that. Good catch

DivX trouble with 0 % buffering

I have the same trouble since updating my DIVX --> 0 % Buffering. :(
My system: Windows 7 64 bit and Firefox 3.6.13
Have unchecked "Enable the download cache", changed the download/cache folder and used the bat file, but nothing works.
Does anyone know an other solution?

It works!!

when I got my laptop all worked well so did divx. after 6 months of updates from MSoft. Divx went south. Now I removed some updates all went back to great with divx. then I removed the setup from the control panel and things went downhill so I could not play a thing from Divx. however after I re installed it and did the o% thing you talked about and all back to great.
Divx I love you...while it's true it was slow back then but now is fast (supper fast)
It is the sharpest and the best sound from all other players.
Shame on MSoft. doing the updates that mess our systems. Divx YOU RULL #1
Thank you

THANK YOU!

I've been bashing my head on the keyboard for the last week trying to figure this out, I have Win7 x64 with a i7 core processor. This worked beautifully. Thank you so much.

Run on browser exit

ah.. this fixed the crashes..

For firefox and chrome users, there is add-on called click&clean, which can be used to run the bat file on browser exit. Makes life easier..

Hopefully it will be fixed soon..

Issue with divx . Crashes my browser

I try playing divx compatible videos online, but my browser( internet explorer, firefox, chrome) crashes everytime i try load a video.

My system is Windows7, i-3.

I could play/use divx files online until a couple of days ago. I had the regular version.I tried reinstalling divx(both regular and beta after uninstalling all previous version) but I get this message.
Application not found".

I went through old posts and checked this aspect too.
My registry keys are [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]

"ProxyEnable"=dword:00000000

I can now play video files already downloaded though on Divx player.

Please help.

Update for DIVfiX

Since there is no "edit"-function here I'll have to post another reply. I've recompiled the tool now for X86 and X64 systems, providing better speed on each one. Download-Link is:

64-Bit DivFiX

Ha ha, 64-bit DivFiX, incredible. Now, if only I could have 64-bit DivX Web Player with a new 64-bit Firefox!

Edit function

There should be an "Edit" button right next to the reply function of each one of your posts. It's in the bottom right hand corner. As far as I know, if you start a thread, then the edit option stays for the original message, but if it's just a reply to a thread, then the edit option is only there temporarily.

For those who prefer a GUI...

...heres is what I've coded today. This tool scans for temp-files written by DivX, lists them (grey are dirs, green are files which can be deleted, red ones are locked) and finally wipes them from your HD. This tool also checks for running instances of Firefox, IE or Opera. It will also terminate all DivX-download processes before cleaning up and watch them to avoid the cleaning process being interrupted.

This is cool

Thanks netcore! Can't wait for the next version to come out, but until it does, at least Beta 3 is running smooth as silk... Merry Christmas everybody!

Don't work

Hello

This .bat file don't delete the files, (I using XP sp2, closed browser, ended DDMservice.exe). I deleting manually, but the 0% problem is on! Any help? I try uninstall, deleting from registry, reboot, reinstall, reboot, and not work...
But works before I "updating" the Divx... Please help, or what I doing wrong?

The Original DWP Clear Batch File

The Original DWP Clear Batch File has some Syntactic Bugs with killing the DDMService.

What is when the Service Spawn every Second a new DDMService the human are to slow to killing the DDMService service.
We needs a smarter way so im a Windows Developer and have created a new Batch file with much improvements

http://www.mediafire.com/?k07v76kchc17wwv

I recommend that all users load this File

BEFORE RUN THE BATCH FILE PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL BROWSERS ARE CLOSED !!!
ATTENTION THIS FILE CONTAINS !!!--NO VIRUS--!!!

Better UI

I have seen many People have Problems with the Batch File..

Late night i have Created to fix this Problem a nice GUI..

Test it out

ATTENTION THIS FILE CONTAINS !!!--NO VIRUS--!!!
http://www.mediafire.com/?j9kwjba1uyhnya8

IT DELETES ONLY THE DIVX STUFF NOT OTHER TEMP FILES

In the DIVfiX app it deletes the Complete Temp Folder ! In such situation it is a Risk !

**UPDATE** 26.12.2010
I have updated the Tool with more Improvements

It's not a risk since it will

@micronix
It's not a risk since it will not delete any file which is being accessed by another application. That's why DIVfix marks them as locked. BTW: DIVfix is using the commands mentioned before in the batch file:

del /q /s "%temp%\*"

PS: Your tool doesn't check whether any browser is running, so the Plugin Container *will* prevent your tool from deleting webplayer temp files, since they're in use by FF, IE or any other app.

UPDATE: Version 1.1 released.

Changelog:

  • - exclude-filter added
  • - silent switch added (-s)

re mac gui

I don't know if this is a fake a file or what...it doesn't do anything and I hope there are no viruses...but I can't get it off my computer now...anyway I have found a real solution and that is too downgrade to version 1.4 on the divx site http://support.divx.com/faq/view/supportFAQen003/DivX-Legacy-Version. I couldn't get it to work in the opera browser which I use but at least in firefox..I also had the same problem...the 7.0 was working fine until all of the sudden it stopped buffering...hopefully this might help someone. BTW...there is no need to uninstall the previous version...I couldn't manage to do that either...it asks if you would like to rewrite over 7.0...and only through this link was I able to downgrade...all of the others gave me an error that there was already a newer version installed..Hope this helps!

???

Both files are 100% clean of any Virus or Malware
and Both Versions are fully functionally..

My software must go throw some tests before i publish it..

Sascha

Workaround Alert**Got the batch file to Work!!

I experienced the same problems as many of the users posted above whereby running the batch file doesn't do anything. The workaround I found that works on my machine is to run the batch file as an administrator or in an administrator account.( To do this right-click the batch file and select 'run as admin.' or log off and log on to an administrator account.) After doing this and following the instructions most videos will now buffer. An explanation for this is that running the batch file without admin. privileges blocks the batch file from modifying files.

Problems that are still persistent include:-

480p videos in Flash run as 360p in HiQ which means that the Flash version for this resolution is better. 720p and 1080p generally work fine.

In Safari for Windows 5.0.3 the HiQ button option to run the video in DivX doesn't appear even though the plugin is installed. Google Chrome works fine though.
