Language and Subtitles options?

I've got some MKV files to play and so downloaded divx which plays them great on the laptop, in English and with English subtitles.

But when I copy the files to usb to play on either PS3 or DVD they play in Japanesse and with no subtitles. They play fine other than that, there's no options for changing language/subtitles using the ps3 or dvd and I cant find anything in Divx for when im copying the files to usb?

Edit: Sorry got it working. PS3 audio was left/right thought it was speaker bias not language. Great program :)

Im having the same problem as the person above me, with the subtitle option not being available once the mkv file has been converted to be able to play on the PS3 via DivX. Can anyone help?
