Cannot connect to server via Wireless

I can connect to a 'DIVX connected' server via my wireless router, however, I can only do this by using a wired connection between my PC (VISTA) and my Router (Netgear DG834). The link between my DSM 330 and the Router is wiress in both cases.

When I pull out the wired connection from my PC and return to wireless the DSM 330 no longer see's a 'DIVX connected' server.

I cannot understand why the wired connection works and the wireless connection does not, since they both use the same router.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this ?

DSM 330 can't find server

Hi,
I hope someone can solve this for me I just picked up my DSM 330 on Thursday last week and have been trying to get it connected since with no luck at all.
My PC WINXP Pro SP2 meets or exceeds all of the reqirements to run this device and server software.
I have installed the latest Server Software DivX Connected(tm) 1.4.0 Build: 59
I also installed the PC client DCMP 1.0.2 Build:0005 ("PCDCMP")
PC client will connect to server OK DSM 330 is stubborn and refuses to play ball.

DSM 330 will not find server ..
I tried DIVX server software as an exception in my firewall ..no luck
I have tried disabling my Firewall.. No luck
Tried using my Netgear HDX101 powerline adapters .. No luck
Tried direct connection to router.. No luck
PS: I have tried these more than once ... getting to point of returning the DSM 330 its that frustrating.
I can ping all devices on my network ( Laptop , PC and the DSM 330 using both my powerline adapters and direct to router connections

My IP config is as follows..

192.168.1.100 IP address of PC
255.255.255.0 Subnet mask
192.168.1.1 Default gateway
192.168.1.1 DHCP Server
64.59.144.18 DNS server
64.59.144.19

The IP config on the DSM 330 is ..

192.168.1.102 Ip address of D-Link DSM 330
255.255.255.0 Subnet mask
192.168.1.1 Default gateway

Anyone.. and I mean anyone out there that can take on this one ????

thx

I'm getting the same issue.

I'm getting the same issue. It worked on this same machine when it was running XP MCE 2005. Now on Vista Ultimate it doesn't see it.

SAME router. SAME wifi encryption. SAME computer. The only thing that changed was the OS. (Yes, I disabled the firewall)

Can you try running the PC client...

Can you try running the PC client on the same PC and see if it can connect?

You can get it here as part of the plug-in SDK. It is called dcmp.exe.

http://labs.divx.com/files/ServerPluginsSDK.exe

Are you saying it does connect OK if you use ethernet?

Sorry for the delayed

Sorry for the delayed response. I finally got a new HDTV and had this hooked back up.

I definitely can connect to myself by running the PC-version of the client.

I cannot register my device

I installed the software , but I can not register my device , can you tell me where I can do it or how can i do it from my phone ,
please

Encryption - Part 2

Just updated the firmware to 1.1.2.37 production

1. Configured wireless - Network detected - WEP key entered
2. Server detected and selected

Connection Lost

Encryption

As previously posted I can only get a reliable wireless connection by switching WEP encryption off. This was at the suggestion of DivX but no explanation was given as to why this should work.

Haven't had chance to try it with WPA encryption yet

Was never asked to try the new firmware when it was in beta but I have just seen that it is now an official release. Will try that asap

vista

hi
from reading above i have a similar problem.

I have vista newly installed on my PC whic is wirelessly connected to router and using internet all fine. I have DIVX connected connected wireless to router it has an ip assigned. I can not get it to see the Divx connected server software on vista. I have tried a laptop running xp home and it connected straight away without a problem.
i can only put this down to some hidden network setting in vista that blocks a port or something.

any idea on how to solve this problem

Wow, that is a very strange problem

I can only think of one way that can happen right now, but I will give it more thought since this may not be the cause of your problem, but it has happened to me before.

I was at home with my laptop and connected to the internet wirelessly and everything seemed fine but my device could not see my server. It took me quite a while figure out that my PC had inadvertently connected to my neighbors unsecured network. This was easy to see once I checked what network I was connected to, but it would have been very difficult to figure out if by chance me and my neighbor had the same type of router with same default SSID such as 'netgear'.

Right now, this is the only way I can see this happening, but I will give it more thought.

No unfortunatley its not

No unfortunatley its not that, i'm definitely connected to my own router with correct SUID and WEP encryption.

Hello marin8or1 I have the

Hello marin8or1
I have the same problem and i m still looking for an answer. Did you find a solution ?
I tried the vista compatibility mode (i chose XP SP2) but it doesn't work.

I hope you find and enjoy ;-D

May be due to a "Feature" in vista

One other thing that comes to mind is that maybe Vista allow each network adapter to be configured differently in term of what it allows an application to connect to. I will ask around and see if that is a possibly.

Can you try the same thing with a PC running XP? Have you configured your router in any special way with regards to wireless?

I have not heard of anyone else having this issue unfortunately.

Have you asked D-Link about it?

Vista unpredictable

I having issues with my Divx Connected with connecting to Vista Home Edition SP1. I running DivX Connected 1.4.0 build 59, but was having issues with previous version as well. Vista connected wired to Router, router wirelessly to Dlink = Cannot find server. tried switching ZoneAlram off no difference. ZoneAlram does see the dlink, both PC & dlink on exact same network. Dlink gets proper IP address.

Used my other XP machine, running same version Divx, sees the server on that straight away no problem with Windows XP - this definite Vista & Divx connected software problem. Please help?

Vista concurrent connections

I have managed to get the Divx Connected software to connect to the Dlink DSM-330. I had to disable 10 services in Vista, rebooted then tried reconnecting to the Dlink, then connected ok! Working!!

I think that Vista has the same XP restriction of 10 concurrent connections. I had disabled Intel Viiv programs, & some others which did not need to be run at startup. Now only 60 processes running.

Hope this helps you.

Can DivX connected have some priority over non essential network traffic?

Hi guys, it been nearly a

Hi guys, it been nearly a year since i first reported this problem, since then i've tried all sorts of suggestions but still no luck.

It sounds like it a compatibilty issue with Vista but i don't know how to resolve this, does anyone have any updates on this problem ?

compatibilty

hi, it is unlikely it is a vista issue as i have ran this on vista 64 bit ultimate edition since i got it, maybe i can help though.
i also use the exact same router as you so it must be a configuration issue you have.

have you pressed setup and reset the dsm-330 to factory settings without the wired connection?

hi there, i tried resetting

hi there, i tried resetting the factory default and went through the set up using wireless connection. Unfortunatley, i'm still in the same position as before.

Any other suggestions ?

ok so you have set it to

ok so you have set it to wireless, does it come up at all or does it fail to find any server and keep flashing?

Is the connected icon in the bottom right notification area of your desktop next to the clock?

Is your file sharing permission set to on within vistas own file and media sharing options?

ok so you have set it to

ok so you have set it to wireless, does it come up at all or does it fail to find any server and keep flashing?

it fails to find any server and display a message saying there is no server available check divx is connected etc..

Is the connected icon in the bottom right notification area of your desktop next to the clock?

Yes DivX connected is running.

Is your file sharing permission set to on within vistas own file and media sharing options?

Yes file sharing is on

Are you only having this issue wirelessly?

Have you tried a wired connection?

I can connect to a 'DIVX

I can connect to a 'DIVX connected' server via my wireless router, however, I can only do this by using a wired connection between my PC (VISTA) and my Router (Netgear DG834). The link between my DSM 330 and the Router is wireless in both cases.

Have you check the firewall

Have you check the firewall settings on the router?

192.168.0.1 and make sure you have the i.p address or range allowed through the firewall?

maybe you have ticket activate wireless access point within the wireless settings within the router but have not allowed the dsm-330, it should come up as unknown device.

I remember this now.

This is a very strange problem and I think that it may have something to do with Vista having different firewall or some other settings based on which network port is being used. I think D-Link should be in a better position to help with this issue, even though it not a device related one since they have a lot general networking expertise.

The discovery protocol we use is similar to UPnP, so other UPnP type devices should also see the same issue.

Problem with vista AND XP TO

It's not a vista problem.
And it's not due to Dsm 330 position.

My system is in windows XP and my dsm worked very well during more than one year in wireless mode but I have the exact same problem described in this topic in XP for my DSM which is connected to my router (netgear 834g) in wireless mode.

What i can say is that my neighbourhood trafic is bigger than one year ago. i tried to change wifi canal from 1 to 2, 3, ..., 10, 11. But no success.

After many test, my conclusion is that something in the connected server software blocks the dsm330 connection... Why ? i don't know...

If anyone have an idea ...
