Divx Web Player

Divx Web Player

First, let me tell you that I have the latest Divx For Windows Pro Package 6.6.
The includes Divx Web Player 1.3.0 and Divx Pro Codex 6.6.

I encoded a video using VirtualDub and Divx Pro Codec 6.6. everything looked perfect.
I wanted to post it on my web site and have my sons use The Divx Web Player (version 1.3.0) to see the video, so I use VirtualDub and created two files, each one running for about 21 minutes.
I'll discuss the first file. I looked at it in Windows Divx Player Player 6.4 and it played perfectly !!

Some charachteristis of the file that GSpot has displayed are that it is 624 x 352.Its audio file has been created by LAME and is a MPEX1 audio file in joint stereo - 48000Hz and 160kb CBR.
It has 30,214 frames, at a 1400FrameRate.
21.00.16 minuites long.
I use FoxPro for Windows 2.0.0.3

Here is the simple code that I wrote and hopefull you can copy and paste to execute the video.

No video? Get the DivX Web Player for Windows or Mac

My Video

Finally, the problem is:
That when it runs the video, Divx web player seems not to have the BUFFERING", corrext.
It starts and I get this distortion and color mess, which does clear up after a while, but will come back. It looks the way I would expect a incompletely downloaded Video to look, therefor I am think about the buffering.

PLEASE help me to understand how I can get my video to look good.

Sincerely,

Jon Temple

DivX Player hangs up

I have three computer systems, each configured differently, running different operating systems but they share the same problem. The DivX player will hang up during playback, whether it is streaming video from the web, playing a downloaded video or just playing a .divx file. I have downloaded the latest versions of all DivX software for each of the machines in an attempt to resolve this problem but so far unsuccessfully. Any hints?

Trasparent

I don't know if this is the right place to post questions but, anyway, i try!
I'd like to know if there's a way to set a Divx Web Player object to have Trasparent effect like Flash do with this command:
wmode="transparent"

Is there similar feature with Divx ??

Divx Web Player HAS a problem

Sorry for the wait to reply back. I contacted Divx support and played around some. I am working with Divx Web Player 1.3.1.
Here is an update, please help:

*Divx support wrote me about two weeks ago that the Divx Web Player does has known problems and that a new beta version will be out in about a week that has the fixes in it

    * I saw this very interesting thread on the Stage 6 forum. It appears that lots of people are having similar issues where the Web Player used to be reliable and work fine, but it does not work for them anymore. Similar problems. Here is the string http://stage6.divx.com/forum/718/3682/ It looks like some people found work around by removing the Web Player SDK and then re-installing an old version

*I encoded another video which was encoded in Virtualdub using Divx 6.6.1. GSPot 2.70 tells me that the Divx file Codec is DX50, Name: DivX 5.x/6.x. Status: Codec Status Undetermined.

*In the Divx Windows Player 6.4.3 (which plays back perfectly). File information says the following: Video Track #1:
    FOURCC: "DX50" (DivX® Video)
    720x480, 23,976000 fps
    Audio Track #1:
    FormatTag : "85" (MPEG-1 Layer-3 Audio (mp3))
    2 channels, 48000Hz
    Language: N/A

Here is a simple web page where I basically used Divx Labs to create the code for me. (I wonder what means).
You can execute it to see if you get the de-pixalization and inconsistent buffering .

What is the word with Divx Web Player 1.3.0 and 1.3.1 ? Are there bugs that are known about and are being fixed. like Divx Tech Support wrote to me ? Are there new rules/limitations that I need to use ?

You can run my last video, encoded with the updated Divx encoder here :

Thanks,

Jon

New Webplayer

We just released DivX Webplayer 1.4.0 Beta1. Give it a try and see if anything changes...

Gspot

I always use Gspot, great product. I also use Virtualdub and I just have to open the File Information.

I was told by Divx, when I posted my problems to support, that there is a bug in Divx Web Player and that there will be a beta version coming out in about a week. I hope so, it used to be much more reliable.

I have been spending hours re-encoding, as well as changing my script with calls the Divx video and plays it on the web. There are various additional statements that I can use.

No matter what I use on better quality Divx videos, Firefox or Windoz Internet Exploder, it works the same.

Totally irregular amount of time for the buffering to work, and I also get the ugly pixilization.

On one short video, I made a few changes, but lowering the pixel quality and size from 768 x 578 to 640 x 480 did have it play the video much more consistently. Also, when I play all Divx videos on the latest Windoz Divx Player, the videos play perfectly.

I really would like to know about advised settings to use during the Divx encoding phase . The options keep growing and I will bet that there are some settings that I might normally use to make my videos play better on my Divx supported DVD player, and on my PC, might make the web player struggle. I am just assuming.

As of right now, I am holding off encoding high quality Divx videos, that might come initially come from a DVD until I get more information or there is a fix.

Thanks for your interest.

As Lame as I am with the myriad of complexities that make Divx videos work I feel that there are many people with a lot of experience and information that will help.
With the Divx Web Player, that is not the case. I feel like I am operating in a vacuum, there is so little useful information online and most postings on the Player forum have gone unanswered.
I suggested that the forum segregate the Web Player from the Windows Player in the forum.
The Web Player also gets into Internet coding options and techniques as well and bandwidth consideration for my guests who I want to look at my video.

I can tell you that I am totally "cranked up" about the Divx Web Player and I think it is the absolute best option for posting video to others. When I started using it and didn't have these problems, I was blown away with how quickly the playing started and the videos played very smooth.
With the size of the Divx Web Player being small enough to fit on a floppy, that is a major attraction for me, when it comes to my sharing my videos.
PLUS, not having the use the massively, overblown resource hog of Windoz Media Player, Not-so-real Player, and QuackTime. The focus with the big guys is giving users fewer choices, creative massive overhead and security issues, but most of all, market control is all they are about. In this world of Monopolies and Oligopolies, strong arm tactics on used with vendors. They try to mess things up for each other as well. Quality and customer satisfaction is the least concern.
Divx is outside of the Oligopoly trap and can do their thing independently. They HAVE to rely on creating superior product.

Thanks,

Jon

Hey Jon, I have tried your

Hey Jon,

I have tried your video and page and everything works fine for me. Let's discuss more your issues so I can understand fully and have you try things that might help. Do you have a way to be reached directly (email, IM, etc...) ?

Cheers,

Works fine on a few of my machines. You could try using gspot to see what decoder is used on your system. If I remember correctly, the DivX Player forces use of the divx decoder, but I am not sure if that is the case for the web player as well. Right click on t he web player, go to preferences and play around with the video playback options. Maybe that changes something.
