About DivX Connected™?

It's the easiest way to deliver media you care about directly from your PC and the Internet to your TV. With a DivX Connected device and a network connection, you can watch DivX videos, listen to music and browse photos saved on your PC and access Internet services without leaving the couch.

Ridiculously fast fast forward and rewind

Skip forward through your movies at 30 second intervals and in reverse at 10 second intervals. Fast forward or reverse at speeds up to 300x. Most current digital media adaptors (DMAs) offer fast forward and rewind speeds at about 8x, DVD players at 32x and some DVRs at 300x, though only from an internal hard drive.

Instant playback resume

Don't you hate how you have to fast forward forever to get to that point in the video where you just couldn't keep your eyes open anymore? DivX Connected has a playback resume feature, so you can start watching where you left off without missing a beat.

DVD features, etc.

First you got a DivX Certified DVD player to play all your DivX videos. Then maybe you upgraded to a DivX Ultra Certified player when you started adding menus, subtitles, chapters and multiple audio tracks to your content. It's time to throw them out (and while you're at it, donate all those blank discs you'll no longer need). DivX Connected devices play multiple video formats, including all the DivX video you download, rent, buy or create yourself -- including DivX files with DVD-like features.

Virtual chapter points

Virtual chapter points are another industry first as far as we know. Most Internet videos don't have the chapters we've all grown used to in DVDs, but DivX Connected changes that. To jump to a video's halfway point, just press 5 on the remote keypad. To go 80 percent into the file, press 8. For 30 percent, press 3 and so on…you get the idea. When you combine the use of virtual chapter points with the skip function, you will be amazed at how quickly you can jump to your favorite scenes (at least until we add a favorite scene marking method)

HD resolution photos

No more waiting for locally rendered photos to paint line by line on your screen. DivX connected lets you scroll through full screen, HD resolution photos almost as fast as you can push the buttons on your remote. Navigate pages of thumbnails, play slideshows or view full screen photos one after the other without delay while you listen to and control music playing in the background.

Streams HD video in DivX

Existing wireless standards are ok, if all you want is SD video. But the streaming capabilities of 802.11g simply can't deliver MPEG-2 HD video. That's where DivX Connected really kicks some ass compared to other DMA products. It allows DivX video in 720p HD to be streamed-smoothly and without stuttering-directly to your TV over your 802.11g wireless network.

Play that funky music

You like to rock out, but new research shows that you’re wrecking your eardrums by using those little ear buds with the volume cranked all the way up. Give your ears some breathing room. Point your server software to the music folder on your PC and play MP3s through your home theater sound system. View cover art as you would on the PC and play background music even while browsing photos and playing slideshows.

Crash on Image Scan on Invalid Timestamp

If the file scanner comes across an image (I assume all files are susceptible) with an invalid or broken timestamp, the scanner will crash.

I tested by modifying such an image, giving it an updated timestamp and no more crashes.

Attached is the culprit.

Homepage confusion

After using one of the goto buttons on the remote this appears to be set as the homepage.

P.E.
- Press the music button on the remote
- press the back button
Now i'm back on the homepage
- goto Services
- start Ambient service
- press back button
Instead of the normal startpage you go to the music page

Is this correct behavior????
(This doesn't happen for all services or plugins)

DivX Connected Beta Community

"Playlist-on-the-go"

Wouldn't it be cool if you could use one button to select songs for an impromptu playlist, so you could create a custom playlist on the go? Ideal for parties and stuff? You could implement it like this:
- use one button on the remote to let the user select songs for his playlist-on-the-go.
- when done, the user would press another button, and would be presented by a screen which lists all his songs in the order in which he or she selected them. The user would then be able to sort them to his liking.
- another press of the button, and the playlist would start playing.

This would be ideal for parties, or if you just want to listen to your own selection of songs.

Suggestion: playlist-on-the-go

I have a suggestion. Would it be possible to implement a "Playlist-On-The-Go" feature in the DivX Connected software, akin to the function found in iPods? For those unfamiliar, it allows you to tag songs in your collection to create an impromptu playlist. Ideally, users would use one button to tag songs, press another when they're done, then be presented with a screen containing their selection where they can change the order of the songs around, one more push of a button and the songs began to play in the selected order. Ideal for parties etc.!

DivX Connected Beta Community

Editing Metadata for video

Hi. This has been asked in the past, latest I've seen in December '07. Any method available of editing the metadata on a video so that, at least, the formatting available on the screen is more descriptive of my file? Ideally being able to classify and show discriptive information, similar to the interface from satellite info or cable info?

I've just downloaded abcAVI, but just an initial launch of the software makes it seem as if this tool is to complicated for the average user and is the information going to be seen on the client side if I do edit?

DivX Connected Beta Community

Updated Flash splitter and config again

I updated

AllInOne.rar
DCDShowPlaybackPlugin.rar

and the link to the Flash Splitter. This version of the splitter comes with an installer. So no need anymore to manually register the filter.

The config file now supports VP6F (found in more recent Flash versions). Additionally I changed the GUID from Haali Simple Media Splitter to Haali Media Splitter and added 0x0000 (Audio Codec: unknown) to the ffdshow audio section.

If somebody got Matroska files with subtitles, could she/he please give the new config a try? Connected should accept these files now. The subtitles still won't play, but at least Connected should no longer refuse to accept these files.

Additionally *.ogg audio and Matroska with OGG audio should now play.

ZIP/RAR: Some users complained that they couldn't unzip the prior *.zip files or ended up with garbage. So I changed all the archives to RAR format instead. To each rar file a zip version still exists. Simply replace the .rar file ending in the link with .zip.

Look here for the latest versions:
http://www.kamiwa.de/node/22
