My screen keeps dimming and turning off when I play video's on my SE W950i. Smartmovie does not have this problem and I cannot find a solution under 'options'. Did I do something wrong or did u guys?

Dimming on W950i

I'll second this, cant the next version be signed? The app is great but...whilst not being unsurmountable is rather a nuissance to keep the screen on.

Unsigned

Sorry, but we probably won't go through the Symbian code signing process while the software is still in beta. In the meantime, the best suggestion is to manually turn your backlight on and complain to Sony Ericsson.

Actually, I think Sony did

Actually, I think Sony did something wrong. For some reason they require digital signatures on UIQ applications just to keep the backlight on. DMP Beta is not a signed application. The only work-around we have found is to change the system backlight settings to keep the light "always on" before starting DMP. I realize this is inconvenient since you'll have to manually change this setting every time you start and stop DMP, but that's the best option currently available.

Inescapable dimming issue

I can stop the screen from dimming to black but UIQ3 does not make it possible to prevent dimming completely when in handheldmode. :-( Am I the only one having trouble with this here? This must have come up before?

solution ?

Hello,
I have found a temporary solution for your problem, which i was facing with too...
In the BACKLIGHT properties :
In the backlight tab, just turn the "standard" from "auto" to "activated", and at th end of the page, turn off the sleeping mode of the screen,
and in the brigthness tab, put the dimmed brigthness value to the same of the standard value...

I watched a 1h30 movie in the train without being interrupted by the dimmer of the screen !

I'm french, and i tried to translate the french paramaters of my phone, so sorry if it's not as easy to understand as it would be.. but it works for me !

Enjoy !

Signing

You can sign these things yourself and it is not too hard. I don't think it is illegal since signing was meant to prevent piracy AFAIK.
