Installation
Can someone please post more detailed instructions on how to install the divx mobile player? I have no idea what the heck i'm doing
the file that i downloaded from stage 6 is a rar. i unrar it with with winrar and the folder that is created does not contain a file with any of those extensions. the closest is an xml file named setup. none of the files seem to be executable.
i have a samsung blackjack. i dragged the folder into my phone but none of the files display on the phone.
i have also found a copy of version 0.86 that is a sisx file, but my phone wont display it either
any suggestions?
If you visit mobile.divx.com from your computer (rather than your phone) and you choose "About DivX Mobile" when prompted, you'll have the option of downloading the player to your computer. From this page you can download a SIS, SISX or ZIP file. Your phone is a Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone, so make sure you choose the Windows Mobile Smartphone link to get the appropriate ZIP.
Inside the ZIP you'll find the aforementioned CAB file and a file called setup.exe. If you run the setup program on your computer, it will use ActiveSync to install the CAB file on to your Smartphone.
The installation process varies somewhat based on what phone you have. However, here's the basic idea:
Note that Palm Garnet OS devices must install the PDB file first and then the PRC file. Some devices may prompt you for confirmation like, "are you sure you want to install this?"
