I'm not too new to DivX but still am fascinated by it. I have the appropriate DVD player that supports the format, I have the ability to create DivX with the included Pro tool in Roxio's Toast Titanium and then I saw a new tool that got me excited: DivX Author.

I'm bummed to see it is an XP only tool right now. Are there any plans to bring it to Mac in the near future?

I'm burning videos for my family and the older members like my mother would probably have better luck navigating visual DVD-like menus instead of truncated word-based menus on their players (I've persuaded more than a few to invest in players that are DivX compliant).

Thanks!

DivX Author for Mac

I cannot understand selling your products for the Mac. Then you say in the Apple Mac section upgrade,
then it shows you a picture of DivX Author. Then when i looked at the product it was only for Windows.
I am in the process of buying converter`s Player`s ect... I asked my son about your products because
he knows a lot, unlike me i am just a novice and he was`nt very enthusiastic about your products.
He said something about a lot of different formats, that your products do not cover. As the guy said
he got excited DivX Author. I looked at it straight away. As i say the jury is still out on buying your product.

There is no DivX Author for

There is no DivX Author for MacOS X.
You can export to DivX thanks to the encoder, but you can't use any of the advanced features of DivX Author.

that's just harsh. Is that some sort of segregation or something? PC users getting one more product than mac users?

Well yes. We get fewer

Well yes. We get fewer features, fewer updates, etc.
We’re not their priority. I guess the folks at DivX made market share analysis and decided to prioritize development accordingly.

It’s always a difficult analysis anyway: if you don;t make the tools, people won’t use them :->
