where do i go now?
well now that stage 6 is gone, why would they send me to Veoh?
they don't use DIVX?
does anybody know a site that is the same as stage 6?
I went to veoh and the picture sucks, I mean isn't
that why we all got DIVX in the first place?

Found this site about a week ago. They use the divx webplayer and the video quality is exactly the same as Stage6 was. I uploaded several 1080p videos and the quality was excellent.It is in the alpha stages right now so everything doesn't work all the time but as soon as they get the design down and everything up and running this site will be just as good as Stage6 was. Here is the link http://hostmedia.us/alpha/ Videos only play in IE right now but all browsers will be supported when all is said and done!!!
Worked in Firefox for me. I didn't have time to look around much, but I watched The Hulk trailer in 1080p. Cool site.

I am new and no real experience with Stage 6 or the alternative sites. Considering the depth of your research in alternate site possibilities, I give you my support for reopening Stage 6. Good Luck and I hope someone listens.

I too have started the migration over the blip.tv. I only have a fraction of my work up on that site so far. Some of my transcodes have failed, but the DivX files are there and accessible.

The blip rss feed also works for making connected plug-ins as far as I know.

normally you search for certain file you know it's description and content on a torrent tracker
site and download the torrent then start downloading the file (contained inside the torrent).
and some the content of the file is not known or you found that it doesn't match what you want.VUZE website DON'T host files ,videos ,games nor any content that the users share .but only host the description of that content ,rating of that content ,and even a low quality
preview of that content .you search or browse for the certain file you want then watched a demo screen shots ,description of the content then download that torrent for that file that lead you to the peer computers hosting that content.users like you hosting that content and
sharing that content with others delivering that content to peer computers by P2P technology.
the great of vuze is that detail description of the content other than torrent index dum sites
that don't give that detail description .
I have a same idea by establish users VPN on the web based on tunneling technology and
by a software you browse content on other user computer like sharing a file on your LAN network but rather on the internet and provide same detail description like vuze do and content are delivered by P2P or through the users VPN and even divx streaming videos with the same concept .

Does anyone know what happened to that petition to keep stage6 alive? Can we start up another to bring stage6 back. There is nothing out there that comes close.

Truth is, there is no place like Stage6; DivX codec or not. Most if not all Video sharing/Media content delivery sites use Flash wrapped video as their streaming video. Flash sucks socks. Adobe's latest version release claims to support 1080p, yet their own HD showcase site, doesn't even come close to even 720p, and barely even HQ. Their (Adobe) Flash wrapped videos are highly pixelated lacking in rich content.
Many of the previous S6 communities have horded to 3 or 4 Video sharing communities, some with just the feel and look of S6 with some MySpace functionality. One that I've found that is semi-decent, more so than Veoh I think, and rated by PC Magazine as comparative to Stage6 (I don't think so) is Blip.tv (http://blip.tv)
It's more of a video site, than it is a community. Still their content is delivered via (again) Flash wrapped content.
I don't think we're going to see another Stae6 anytime in the very near future.

blip is my favorite thus far as well. They do a server side transcode to falsh, however they leave the source files accessible. So you can come across windows media player or DivX web player embeds as well.

I e-mailed blip concerning public domain content and they have no problem with it. So I am going to try to at least partially reconstitute my channel there. Still, I wish there was someway to let all those who were subscribed to my channel know where it's at. Sigh, so forlorn about the demise of Stage6...
You could try to make it as similar to your channel on stage6.
When people use search engines to find your content, they may have more luck if you use SEO techniques that make it easier for them find you,
Just looked at veoh, it really doesn't look that great with loads of 30 second clips and material culled form you tube. Keep searching folks there has to be something far better out there that is closer to what Stage6 was like.

Stage 6 was a magnificent work of art! Everything worked great, was easy to navigate. Lots of diverse content. . . Perfect!
Maybe someone will take it to task and resurrect it. Surely it must be known that it was the Icon of Internet Entertainment.
I agree completely. I loved stage6 as the quality and content was unmatched, period. I refuse to view anything on Youtube, or the like, and the veoh site they push is not even comparable to stage6. Hopefully stage6 will be revived somehow.
