Cover display for movies
In the same way that MP3 folders, containing a CD graphic, display the graphic during onscreen preview, I would like to be able to add movie cover graphics, perhaps with movie comments. Is this already possible or could it be considered as a future enhancement?

help on this
On this thread I need a little help I am using Vista Media Center and would like to be able to display the cover art to my video's both DivX and MP4 I don't quiet understand how to set this up the forum thread says just the text file
Use the Edit Metadata feature of the PC server app
The easiest way is use the Edit Metadata feature of the PC server. Choose the Video Setting Tab, and then select the file you want to add a poster to. A dialog window will appear and give you options to add an image as well change text.
Images for movies
Actually I discovered a media Player that does what I need. It searches the IMDB on the net and puts everything in. Its called Media Portal [url=http://www.mediaportal.com]Runs in Vista is open source
Adding Film Posters
Having read all of the replies I've been saving movie posters, from a variety of sources, back into my Films/Genre folder structure and naming the JPEG file film_title.avi.jpg were film_title is the same text string as the .avi divx file. Having done this I simply re-scan the Genre folder using the PC Connected software. If I want to add metadata, which is always, only then do I follow the Edit Metadata route. This method saves the time of having to browse the poster image into the Edit Metadata GUI.
Automatic cover without folder.jpg structure?
I use still Windows Media Center (Vista), however, would change with pleasure on DivX Connected and run the server software on my Windows Home Server.
To get indicated to all films a cover (in Windows Media Center) I have the following structure:
Movies
- Genre 1
-- film 1.avi (movie)
-- film 1.jpg (cover)
-- film 2.avi (movie)
-- film 2.jpg (cover)
- Genre 2
-- film 1.avi (movie)
-- film 2.jpg (cover)
- Genre 3
-- ...
-- ...
Can I use DivX Connected with this folder structure to show the covers without editing the meta data? Maybe with renaiming to "film 1.avi.jpg"?
Or is the only way without editing the meta data the structure with a folder for each movie and a "folder.jpg" in it?
I will put on a "film 1.avi.TXT" for every movie to add a description. How can one put down on this the release year and also the cover file names?
...I tried at the moment the server and client server on my local PC. And it will not work :(

It will work if you do this..
Add the avi extension to the jpg file name. You do not need the TXT file to show the image artwork.
Movies
- Genre 1
-- film 1.avi (movie)
-- film 1.avi.jpg (cover)
-- film 2.avi (movie)
-- film 2.avi.jpg (cover)
- Genre 2
-- film 1.avi (movie)
-- film 2.avi.jpg (cover)
- Genre 3
Great! It works really good =)

Thank you for this helpful information!
Now I need only a hint, how I can add the release year in the "film 1.avi.TXT" meta data file.
Date="2003"
Date="2003" should do it.
I have noticed this label does not match what is displayed on the UI, so I have asked engineering to add a "released" label as well for the text file.
I've already asked for this
The way to view cover-art for movies is to open the Connected database, find the movie file and right click --> edit metadata. You can assign a movie graphic and enter other details like genre, synopsis etc... It's straightforward enough but for collections running in the high hundreds, it's a bit of a painstaking process.
Regarding displaying video cover art by default, I've already asked for this fairly straightforward feature back in December --> use Video Folders' folder.jpg as default folder/file preview graphic for list and folder views. The DivX team said they'd look into it but still waiting..!
Note that in video list view, the graphic will appear when the folder is highlighted. Unfortunately, in folder view, all the folders display a generic folder icon and not the folder graphic. If they displayed the folder graphic, you'd be effectively be browsing by movie cover art which IMO is a really superb feature. Fingers crossed we'll get this piece of functionality added in the not too distant future!
Also worth mentioning is that if you remove your database folder in the database only to add it again (something I did given that database rescans fail to remove deleted folders) you will lose all your metadata for all your files. Would certainly be nice to have a database export - import feature (though you can manually copy the database file in the Connected folder and put it away for safekeeping).

Thanks fkm, the right click --> edit metadata suggestion works great. Obviously I'm thick for not spotting this in the first place.
Until this is fixed, we can
Until this is fixed, we can not support the moving of folders without metadata loss.
There is a work around for this for now. We do support text file metadata of the form below with the following tags. These will be imported but can not be modified back to the file with the edit meta data feature. You must use a text editor to create and update them.
videoname.avi.txt
title="Title of Video"
genre="Genre Info"
description="Decsription of movie"
But you must create a .txt file that is associated with each video file. It is currently the only way to ensure that the metadata will stay with it.
