Connected: More media support out of the box

I just received a new config file for the DirectShowPlugin from one of the Connected devels. It works with the latest server version and brings a whole bunch of additional media to your box.

Best of it is: It more or less works straight out of the box, only three downloads needed and the config file itself.

Look here for more details.

Server 1.3 and Vorbis

I just installed the new 1.3 Beta server! Everything works great and plays fine except for files with Vorbis audio. I am using the same Config that I used for 1.2.1, where Vorbis played fine. Anyone else have this issue?

New CodecId for Vorbis

Just add 0xcddca2d5 as a new codec id to the ffdshow audio decoder section:

<codecId>0xcddca2d5</codecId>

just before:
<driver>dshow</driver> <guid>0x0F40E1E5, 0x4F79, 0x4988, 0xB1, 0xA9, 0xCC, 0x98,
0x79, 0x4E, 0x6B, 0x55</guid>

Still no go

Thanks for the response Kamiwa! I added the new codeid, but still no vorbis files will play. What version of ffdshow should I be using? I am currently running Tryout version 1723.

ffdshow

About box states:
ffdshow tryouts revison 1920 May 14 2008

Its one of clsid's nightly builds. Current is revision 2004 dated June, 13th.

Available here:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow-tryout/ffdshow_rev2004_20080613_clsid_sse_icl10.exe?modtime=1213395708&big_mirror=0

EDIT: Re-downloaded your test clips. I use the Rémoulade config file from kamiwa.de and it's working fine here. Should you run into problems with AVC and the Rémoulade Beta, simply put the AVC1 entry back under ffdshow video decoder and delete the Rémoulade section.

EDIT 2: Updated to rev 2004 of ffdshow, and still working fine.

Two more ideas: In the All-In-On pack, there are two *.reg files included. If you double-click them the contained ffdshow settings will be written into your registry. The off-side is that any profiles you created in ffdshow will be erased. So if you use ffdshow with other apps as well, export your settings and profiles first so that you can restore them later.

If you still can't get it to work, uninstall the Connected server, delete "C:\Documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\DivX\DivX Connected" and "C:\Documents and settings\Your name\Application Data\DivX\DivX Connected". Then re-install the server and re-add your folders.

If this doesn't do the trick, I really don't know.

Sweet!!!!!!!

The new tryout version did the trick! Vorbis is now working perfectly, Thanks! I am not on the Remoulade project, so I will have to stick with ffdshow! By chance, do you know if the Remoulade decoder handles H.264 in VFW avi (specifically with DCB?) FFDSHOW seems to be hit and miss. Some files work fine, others dont. Cant seem to demux them properly to MP4 with YAMB either!

Thanks for assist Kamiwa!

Rémoulade

You're welcome!

About Rémoulade: Apart from having issues with Connected I'm having problems here with Rémoulade and DVBViewer. So I'm currently back to using CoreAVC.

So can't really tell you much about DivX AVC, except that I can't wait to get the next build into my hands.

Subtitles in MKV files

Is it not possible to use the plugin to tell the DCS to use ffdshows built in subtitle decoders for MKV files?

AHA!

Just had sort of an "AHA!" experience!

New server 1.2.1 B8 and plugin problems

I just installed the new server software 1.2.1 build 8 and found that the plugin no longer works, even after trying the fix for the previous server. Will there be a new pluginconfig file released soon?

If this happens, I find its

If this happens, I find its best to uninstall, re-install, and choose NOT to keep your previous settings. It happened to me once and now I'm enjoying MKV file playback :)

You're sure?

Upgraded to latest build as well and so far my vids (MKV with AVC/AC3) play fine!

stevy1's picture

Yep, sure! (EDIT) AHA! now I got it!

I just did an uninstall of ffdshow (_beta4a_rev1723_20071224_clsid), Matroska Splitter build 1.8.122.18, and the new build of DCS. Restarted the system and re-installed all three progs fresh with new settings following the "tutorial for MKV with DCS", restarted DCS after scanned folders and placing config file into ....BIN\DivX Connected\, rescanned the folder with my MKV's containing various Video codecs ranging from Xvid - H264, MP3 - Vorbis, and even OGM files. All of witch worked perfect (cept for those with subtitle streams) with the 1.2.0 build 48 server.
Now I cannot get them to work. Im stumped! The only thing that is different is the server. (EDIT) I found out why it would not work. The files that were not showing up contain srt or ass files, and there seems to be some codec issues as well! Two files are encoded with an avc1 codec and mp3, but only one of the two is showing up in DCS. Thats better then none at all! Silly me, I didn't even check to see if any of those files I tested had subtitle files!

Thanks again Kamiwa

Thanks again Kamiwa & the devels. Did a fresh install and inserted the new config file worked like a charm.
